I was just thinking why is martin staying by katy bedside when he knows the truth and after everything that has happened is it out of guilt or love

could be a bit of both i suppose!! i think he does stilll love her remember the look he gave when she told everyone in the pub that she was leaving. that was definaltly a i still love you look!!

Apparently before she dies he tells her he understand what she did and why she did it but apparently he doesnt know if he means it or not i think its gulit but it could be a bit of both i guess like you said?
