View Full Version : Westlife star: "I'm gay"
Westlife singer Mark Feehily has admitted that he is gay.
In an interview with The Sun today, the 25-year-old said: "I want people to know the truth about my sexuality. I am gay and I'm very proud of who I am. I'm not asking for any sympathy, or to be a role model to anyone else.
"I simply felt it was the right time for me to let people the truth. I've never tried to hide who I am from anyone, but I'm a very private person and in the past I haven't felt the need to say anything about my sexuality. But I want people to know I'm very comfortable with who I am."
The star added that the rest of the chart-topping group were aware of his sexuality and had "been there for me when I needed to talk things through."
Feehily is currently dating 21-year-old Kevin McDaid, former singer with the boyband V.

Not really but he was probably getting the jump on someone (like stephen gatley) who was going to out him. Atleast he now he is doing it on his terms
Fair play for him coming out - he was probably getting loads of hassle about settling down etc. I thought it would be him if any though, cause Kian is with that girl from Hollyoaks, Nicky is married to Berties daughter, Bryan (though no longer with them) was married to Kerry and is now with Delta and Shane is married to .... someone! (lol) But Mark was the only one that wasn't. I hope he wasn't forced into coming out though, cause his private life is just that....
P.S - If Robbie even thinks about being gay :angry: not allowed, I'll sort him out and I'm sure Debs will help, hows about you Rach!!!??

His sexuality has nothing to do with his job. Is it really our business? I totally agree with you. I don't have to go around saying I am straight,so why do gay people have to tell every one,its up to them what they do in private. There are alot of guys out there, that are gay and havent told, so good luck to them I says.
I hope that this isn't to do with publicity - things have been a bit quiet for them of late and I really hope that they haven't decided for him to come out in order to gain album sales. What he does in his private life is exactly that and no-one should be made to feel that they have to come out in that way if it isn't 100% exactly what they want to do....

That thought did cross my mind too, Westlife aren't exactly in the spotlight at the moment!

I had an incling he might be. Though good for him! It's good he can be open about it!
It hasn't caused as much as a fuss as it did when stephen gatley came out has it??

I knew it! But good on him of being proud of who he is.
to me it was obvious. he was never seen with a girlfreind and i always thought hmmm he must be gay.
good on him though for coming out before the papers caught him out

don't know why it should matter what his sexuality is - but well done him on coming out - cant have been easy
