Corrie has recently had some depressing moments so I thought I would do my top list of Corrie's comical characters
Top 10 Best comical Characters
1. Sean- this guy has me in hysterics, he's like the British version of Jack from Will and Grace
2. Blanche- Her put downs are the best
3. Norris- Him and Rita are a right comic pair- give them their own show
4. Cilla- Just the sight of her mouth makes me laugh
5. Danny- Well he is played by Bradley Walsh, his nicknames for the factory girls 'Fuzz, Mince Meat, Legs' are brilliant
6. Janice- Her arguments with Cilla are the best thing on TV
7. Eileen- She is hilarious especially when she's winding up Steve
8. Fred- I say I say he is funny
9. Les- His love for Status Quo and his bad dress sense have me laughing my head off
10. Rita- When she was high on that chocolate cake, now that was Corrie at it's best
Best comical Scene- Fred falling in the hole=PRICELESS
Best comical line- by Ken to Blanche- 'Shouldn't you be knitting under a guillotine' :lol:

No Reg Holdsworth! Reggie was one of the greatest comedy characters ever, teaming up with Curly was pure comedy gold, one of the greatest TV double acts ever. It was a sad day when he left, I think it was over money but Granada should have paid him what he was worth. The late eighties/early nineties was a golden age for comedy on the show, anyone remember Kevin and Sally's trip to Blackpool when they had the Blackpool landlady from Hell? The hen-pecked husband who was hoovering up at 2 in the morning? Corrie has always managed to distance itself from the other big soaps by managing to write some of the funniest story lines and situations for the characters but without descending into farce and pantomime and keeping in all the drama of a normal soap, and that in my mind is why it is, and always will be, the greatest soap ever!

Agree with Barneysulk, Reg and Curly were best comedy act.. Reg and the waterbed was a very funny moment.. So was Cilla and Les and the bath...
Jack and Vera, are soaps most stable couple and have given us some classic moment over the years... :rotfl:

he was brilliant but both himself and Bradley walsh are comedians.. it is better when they play a serious part so you can see what sort of actors they are.. like Billy Connolly, funny as hell but can play an excellent straight roll
danny is great and very very funny and so is frankie when she is with danny they have me in hysterics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The top comical character in coronation street is.............. the beano on the bottom shelf next to the peoples friends in Ritas/Kabin/post office.
Sorry, not very funny but I'm bored!!
i think that fred is the funniest character in corrie!! everything about him makes me laugh!! espeically the voice!!

Fred always reminds me of the fantastic Warner Brothers cartoon Foghorn Leghorn "Boy, I say Boy!!". Class, and yes he is very funny too but my all time great has to be Mr J Duckworth Esquire, he's been pushed out of his cheeky, up to no good Jack the lad role by Les Battersby of late but for me he is the original and the best.
I love Sean, he is definitely the funniest character at the moment.
I loved it when Karen and Steve had their comedy moments.

I think all of Corrie had some really funny moments but the above i find hilarious.
Blanche is priceless - Everything she says is really funny
I am quite shocked that no mention has been made of Raquel.
OMG Yes Raquel and the likes of Stan n Hilda or Hilda n Elsie Tanner.
Stan and Hilda of course. Hilda and Elsie had some legendary feuds, but it was Hilda who was the real comic character.
There is a difference though between comic storylines and comic characters. Characters like Reg Holdsworth did become uniquely comic, but some of the best Street characters have had the ability to do both comedy and drama amazingly.
It is because of that that Coronation Street keeps an underlying realism. Life's not all about drama and tragedy, comedy is just as important. Coronation Street's comedy is completely organic and it's extremely rare that it drifts into being a farce.
