Steph asks her father a favour
Airing Sunday, 21st August 2005


Viv thinks Marlon needs to get his priorities right and decides to get revenge on Donna’s behalf. Getting ready for Newcastle, Marlon realises Mack, his beloved knife, has gone missing. He accuses Donna, who is unable to convince Marlon of her innocence. Will Viv admit to Donna that it was she who took the knife?

Meanwhile, Steph shows her father the positive comments written in the book at the B&B and asks him to take it off the market so she can run it on a permanent basis. Turner isn’t sure so confides in Ethan. Will Turner decide to give Steph what she wants?

Marlon gets himself arrested

In Newcastle, Donna and Viv lose Mack, the knife. Marlon tracks it down at the station’s lost property office but gets himself arrested when he jokingly threatens to kill Viv. After finally being released, Marlon’s fury causes Donna to call it a day on their relationship. Marlon is now left to decide between Donna and the competition.

Elsewhere, in Whitley Bay, Diane and Paul are reminiscing about old times when he tells Diane it was a nightmare being raised by Val. He admits that he was sometimes looked after by Jimmy Pepper, whom he thought was his father, and his neanderthal sons, who would often beat him.

Also, Viv sees an opportunity to assist Bob in the competition. A jealous Avril watches the pair flirt outrageously, but after the competition will she be able to put a stop to the frivolities?

Diane has a confession for Paul

Viv and Bob are in high sprits after the competition, but an unimpressed Avril throws herself at Bob at any given chance. A fight ensues and Viv confesses her true feeling for Bob, but when he runs after Avril she thinks her chances are ruined.

However, when Bob announces they have split and then proposes to Viv, will Marlon and Donna announce that they have already got engaged?

Diane confesses to Paul that she once had a fling with Tony Christie and after the pair catch up Tony dedicates a song to her.

After the concert, Diane literally bumps into Jimmy Pepper, Val’s ex. He and Paul have a brief conversation resulting in Jimmy finding out the truth – he isn’t Paul’s father.

Diane confronts Val
Airing Wednesday, 24th August 2005

Diane confronts Val over Paul’s revelations that as a child he was beaten by Jimmy Pepper. Val claims she did the best she could and bursts into tears.

Jimmy later arrives in the village and, when he finds Val, pins her against the wall and demands to have the money back for the wedding he paid for that she lead him to believe was for Paul.

Elsewhere, Donna confronts Kelly and asks why she isn’t happier for her and Marlon. Kelly promises she’ll make the effort but can’t help but point out that Donna doesn’t have an engagement ring. Taking Kelly’s words to heart she confronts Marlon who worries that she’s expecting too much.

Jimmy waits for Val demanding the five grand, but unable to find the money, she offers herself to Jimmy. With Jimmy still after the cash, Val hides in the pub until Donna alerts her to a removal van outside Pollard’s factory. Will Val realise what’s happening and manage to put a stop to it?

Elsewhere, a worried Marlon sets off to the shops to buy Donna an engagement ring. He arrives back with a rather large rock - it’s made of glass and is a promise ring until he can afford a better one. However, when Diane tries it on and it gets stuck. How will Donna react when she opens the box and finds it’s empty?

Also, Carl hears on the grapevine that their rivals, the Garrets, are about to go bust. Jimmy tells Carl that Tom wouldn’t make an offer and to leave it alone. Undeterred, Carl tells Tom and he tells Carl to go ahead with the offer. Carl mentions that Jimmy isn’t keen on the idea and a disappointed Tom says he’ll have a word.

Jo starts work at the vets
Airing Friday, 26th August 2005


Matthew has set up a secret meeting with Andrew Raftry regarding access through a field. Matthew arrives back to hear that Tom is selling their land to concentrate on the haulage and plant hire. Matthew declares that he will take his dad on as he has found a great way to access the development. He asks the others to out vote his dad, but will they back him?

Meanwhile, Val arrives at the factory and is shocked to see the room bare. She receives a threatening phone call from Jimmy demanding the money. She tells him to stay away from the village and Paul if he wants his money. Will this be enough?

Also, Ivan fears Jarvis’s working days are numbered when Tom points out to Carl that his bins weren’t emptied on time, and later when Carl finds Jarvis in the pub with Ivan and reminds him he’s supposed to be working. Later, Carl catches Ivan and tells him he knows he is covering for Jarvis and taking on the work load.
