very good bit of acting from both of them last night,when ken was helping him on with his cufflinks and trousers,i found it very moving.

Yeah. But Ray keeps switching characters in my eyes. First he's nasty to Ken and Tracy, then all nice with them. But he's ill so watever.
Doesn't he die at the reception night?
