Coronation Street's Keith Duffy has revealed how he decided to quit the soap to save his marriage.
The former Boyzone singer, who plays barman Ciaran McCarthy, couldn't carry on spending time away from his wife Lisa and his children back in Dublin.
"Corrie professionally gave me some of the best years of my life - but my personal life lay in tatters," Duffy told The People.
He added, "I was in Manchester during the week and flying home at the weekends. Inevitably it killed us and that is why I have jacked it in.
"Lisa is my morning, afternoon and evening and I couldn't see her go through us being apart any more. She was finding it difficult and struggling as she was alone all week.
"Even when I did come home I was like a wet blanket. I was reading my lines or tired or just gearing up for the next week.
"It just wasn't fair. Lisa felt like a single mother. She didn't have me to take her out, escort her to functions or to be there to guide the children. There was no man of the house. She is strong and independent but it was getting too much. It broke my heart to see how much my family missed me."
Duffy's final episode airs on Friday.
