Coronation Street producers delayed filming park scenes yesterday after cast members were attacked by thugs.

Steven Arnold (Ashley Peacock) and Benjamin Beresford (Joshua Peacock) were among those caught up in the incident which occurred in Langworthy Park, Salford - only a couple of miles from the Manchester studios where Corrie is filmed.

Stones and bottles were thrown by the yobs when they were told to leave.

A witness told The Mirror: "It got really ugly at one stage."

"Whenever we go to public places, people turn up to watch," a spokeswoman for the soap added. "There can be some delays and disruption and this was nothing more than that."

The programme makers plan to return to the park - used as Weatherfield's Red Rec - to complete filming at a later date.

I dont understand why people would do that. They were just doing there jobs, i'm sure the producers would have cared if they oved out of hte filming area to another part of hte park so its not like they were being kicked out all together.

Surely it is going to be worse if they delay it even more into the holidays?

I often feel sorry for Coronation Street, it's under resourced in so many different areas. The studio just cannot be expanded upon really. If it could maybe they could have their own park :p

I think that's going a tad too far because afterall they are only doing a job at the end of the day but if they could build their own park then there wouldn't be this problem!
It's a lack of resources, no thriving soap should be locked in a location like that where development is near impossible.

They need to build yet another Street in a bigger location so they can build things like a park etc...and it will be kept private.

They're probably relunctant to do it though, everything would have to be exact or else there would be people who noticed and thought it was dumb
