Fantastic Four has entered the U.S. box office chart at the top spot.

Displacing former chart-topper War of the Worlds, the comic book adaptation took $56.1m (?31.8m) in its first weekend, whilst Spielberg?s movie took $30.5m (?17.3m), bringing its total gross to $165m (?93.4m).

In third place this week was Batman Begins with $10m (?5.7m), followed by new entry Dark Water with $9.9m (?5.6m) .

Fantastic Four has been abolutely slated by critics in the US. It's complete crap apparently. I don't want to put anyone off seeing it though.

It doesn't come out till 21st july so many in the UK won't have seen it. Apparently the Fantastic four has helped the box office downfall, cinema attendance was really low, but f4 has helped it back up again, quite suprising considering awful reviews. Although I'm really excited about it.
