Malick tries to come to terms with the unexpected arrival of the son he didn't know he had. Jake wants to get to know his father, but it seems in trying to do so, he can't help but make trouble for Malick.
When he gets drunk and bursts into theatre, it's the last straw and Ric gives Malick an ultimatum - deal with this boy, or dismiss him. Will Malick follow his heart or his head?
Meanwhile, Elliot takes charismatic medical student Hamish under his wing, but when a patient collapses, Hamish's attempts at resuscitation put the patient's life in jeopardy. Elliot is furious and kicks Hamish out of theatre. With his tail between his legs, Hamish goes to Tara's party, where he gets dangerously drunk and ends the night back in hospital - but this time as a patient…
Elsewhere, Michael is surprised to see Gemma back in AAU after last week's outburst. But this time, she's determined to show him just how good she is. She struggles to bite her tongue and keep her head down, and all is going well until she fails to pass on vital information about a patient. Will she be able to convince Michael that she is a good doctor, or has she blown it once and for all with the feisty American?
