Casualty has introduced four new characters through a webisode and a collection of Twitter accounts.

The special online episode of the medical drama - available to watch now on the official Casualty website - sees the introduction of four trainee nurses.

Students Ally, Aoife, James and Robyn take centre stage in the episode 'Nurse Factor', which follows the characters on the night before their first shift.

Twitter accounts have also been set up for each character. During Saturday's (December 5) episode, tweets will appear throughout the show on @Ally_Casualty, @Aoife_Casualty, @Jamie_Casualty and @Robyn_Casualty, which will give a "dramatic insight" into the characters' thoughts and feelings.

Executive Producer Johnathan Young said: "The webisode is something that we haven't tried before, but with the Twitter accounts for the new student nurses and a focus on social media it seemed to fit.

"This will be a great opportunity for fans to get to know them before the chaos of the ED."

Additional Casualty material will also be available on the Red Button after Saturday's episode.

'Gone in Sixty Seconds' follows Jeff and Dixie as they arrive at the scene of a coach crash, bringing a school party back from a skiing trip.
