Truth or lies
Ellie Leason looked around the square and took a deep breath, it was now or never. She walked over to the Vic and stepped inside. She walked up to the bar and peered around Alfie Moon was nowhere to be seen.
Den- what can I get you darling?
Ellie- I’m looking for Alfie Moon; he does work here don’t he?
Den- not anymore
Ellie- what? Well where is he then?
Den- out on the market, he’s got a stall
Ellie- great, thanks, she turned and walked out
Ellie walked through the market but Alfie wasn’t there, she couldn’t see him anywhere, she walked into the café and got a drink she’d sit down and work out what to do next.
Jake and Danny were in the bookies office with Andy and Johnny
Johnny- how they doing?
Andy- there ok
Johnny- keeping outta trouble boys?
Danny- us trouble, course not
Johnny- I mean it Danny this isn’t a joke
Jake- it’s ok Johnny we know the score
Johnny- I hope so, I need a word with Jake Andy
Andy sighed and got up, I got a job for you Danny
Danny- not another crappy one
Johnny- Danny
Danny- what? He’s got us cleaning windows, cleaning windows for Christ sake
Johnny- he’s paying your wages
Danny- but it’s crap
Jake- shut up Danny; we need to keep our heads down
Danny yanked the door open and stormed out
Johnny- he’s got a bad temper
Jake- I’ll sort him out, he moved towards the door
Johnny- no I need a word with you, Andy
Andy closed the door, Pat
Pat- yes Andy
Andy- how we doing?
Pat- no big wins yet
Andy- that’s what I like to hear, I’m going out
Pat- ok, what if there’s a big win?
Andy- I’ll be back at lunchtime
Ellie was walking back to the tube station when she spotted Danny coming out of the bookies, she waited until he walked towards her and she smirked, hello again
Danny stood and stared at her, what the hell
Ellie walked towards him slowly, how are you Ellie, how you doing?
Danny grabbed her and hugged her hard, what you doing here?
Ellie- I was about to ask you the same thing
Danny- don’t ask, he looked at her and smiled, you look good
Ellie- where’s my money Danny?
Danny- what money? He smiled
Ellie- don’t piss me about Danny where is it?
Danny- ain’t you got it yet? We sent it
Ellie- yeh right, like that’s guna work, you owe me 3 grand Danny, where’s Jake?
Danny- who’s Jake? He said laughing
Ellie- I’ll go in and look myself then shall I? She stepped towards the bookies but Danny grabbed her arm, come on Ellie
Ellie- we did the job, we got paid where’s my share?
Danny- we lost it
Ellie- you what?
Danny- you know how we hid it, well it got nicked
Ellie- you hid 10 grand and someone else nicked it, I can’t believe you 2
Danny- hey it normally works
Ellie- get Jake I wana talk to him
Danny- I can’t
Ellie- fine, she marched to the bookies and swung open the door as Jake and Johnny stepped out of the office, she could only look at the 2 men
Johnny- what are you doing here Ellie?
Ellie- dad?
Danny stood behind her and swore
Johnny- I asked you a question
Ellie- erm… I came looking for you, heard you got a new club
Johnny- really?
Ellie- you saying I’m lying now?
Johnny- no, come on I’ll show you the place
Ellie turned towards the doors and looked behind her at Danny and Jake, then walked out
Jake- what she doing here?
Danny- she wants her cut
Jake- what now?
Danny- that was close
Jake sighed, how did she find us?
Danny- I duno do I?
Jake- what are we guna do?
Danny shrugged his shoulders, nothing with Johnny around
Jake- you think, she’ll be back and we owe her
Danny- I know
Jake- we ain’t got that kinda money
Danny- maybe you can use your influences on her, you know stall her, he wiggled his eyebrows
Jake- get a grip Danny[/FONT][/SIZE]

Johnny opened the door and led his daughter down in to the club, well?
Ellie looked around, very nice
Johnny- it’s more that nice
Ellie coughed, a little dusty
Johnny- well it needed some work
Ellie- I bet, so what you calling it?
Johnny- I’m thinking about Scarlet
Ellie- oh nice
Johnny- what are you doing here in Walford Ellie?
Ellie- do I need a reason to visit my dad?
Johnny- I suppose not
Ellie- so you got a manager for this place yet?
Johnny- you lost another job?
Ellie- no I quit, they were paying me slave wages
Johnny- how long did it last?
Ellie- hey, I’m not some dead beat, they were taking advantage so I quit
Johnny sighed, how long Eleanor?
Ellie- I hate it when you call me that, maybe 3 months
Johnny- longest yet
Ellie- I’m not guna stand here and take your snide comments ok, you’re obviously busy so I’ll just leave, she walked by him
Johnny turned around, where are you going?
Ellie- anywhere your not
Johnny- Ellie
She swung the door open and burst into the square she headed directly for the Vic and decided she’d get very, very drunk.
Johnny sighed and took another look around the building then closed the door and walked back to his car, she’d come and find him when she was ready, she always did.
Jake and Danny opened he doors to the Vic and heard Ellie’s laugh
Ellie- really
Jake looked at her and smiled, she’s drunk
Danny watched her kiss Garry, and desperate, he looked at Garry with disgust that’s just wrong
Jake walked towards her and she looked up, well, well look what the cat dragged in
Jake- nice to see you too
Ellie- not going to buy me a drink?
Jake- I think you’ve had enough
Garry- you know them? He asked Ellie
Ellie- yeh unfortunately
Danny- what you doing with him?
Ellie- excuse me
Jake- Danny, look we need to talk
Ellie turned her back on him; I’ve nothing to say to you
Garry- I think you should just leave her alone
Ellie- just piss off Jake I’m not in the mood
Danny- come on Jake
Jake- we’ll see you around
Ellie smirked, not if I can help it
Garry- what was that all about?
Ellie smiled, don’t worry about it, why don’t we get another drink?

Here we go part 3
Jake and Danny watched Ellie and Garry for another hour, Jake put his bottle down, I’m going home
Danny- we gotta watch out for her
Jake- she’s a big girl Danny
Danny- she’s Johnny’s daughter
Jake- I know Danny
Danny drained his beer then stood up to join his brother, ok let’s go
Garry and Ellie strolled passed them and out the doors
Jake and Danny followed through the doors and watched them
Garry- my place or yours?
Ellie stumbled a bit then laughed, I gotta find my dad
Garry- your dad, why? He asked drunkenly
Ellie- I duno, hey Jake where’s my dad?
Jake- I duno, why don’t you come back with us?
Ellie wobbled and tried to stand straight and failed miserably, she swayed as she looked at him, go with you where?
Garry- hey Ellie
Jake- back to the house
Ellie laughed, you have a house
Danny- come on Ellie
Garry- shut up Danny
Jake- I’ll make you some coffee
Ellie- you owe me more than coffee
Danny stepped towards Garry
Jake- let’s talk about it inside, Danny
Ellie- why would I wana talk about Danny?
Jake managed to catch her and she stumbled and fell
Ellie- smiled up at him, how’d that happen?
Jake smiled, I have no idea
Ellie- you guna help up?
Jake smiled, sure, how bout a coffee?
Ellie- you ain’t guna make it are you? You make crap coffee
Jake laughed, nah Danny will
Danny slid his arm around her shoulders, so how do you like it?
Garry- hey Ellie
Danny- piss off mate
Ellie- how do I like what?
Danny laughed and walked her slowly towards the house with Jake
When Ellie woke the next morning she rolled over to find herself alone in bed, she looked around but couldn’t see anyone; she sat up and looked down at the man’s t-shirt. Huh? Her head hurt there was a pounding in it and it made her want to cry. She slowly moved towards the door and managed to open it without the noise screaming in her head.
Alfie, Nana and Jake sat at the table in the kitchen
Alfie- where’s Danny?
Jake- asleep
Nana- still?
Jake- yep
They all turned as the door opened and Ellie walked in, Jake have you…
Jake- got what?
Ellie looked at Alfie and Nana in embarrassment, erm…
Alfie- someone got lucky last night
Nana- are you all right dear?
Ellie smiled and felt like a fool in the oversized t-shirt, where had all the people come from, ****! her mind screamed
Jake stood up and pushed her into a chair
Nana- you look a little pale
Ellie- just a headache
Danny strolled in, more like a hangover
Jake- Danny, here, he handed her 2 pills and a glass of water
Danny- didn’t sleep well Jake; he wiggled his eyebrows, up most of the night were you?
Ellie took the pills and swallowed them
Jake- shut up Danny you idiot
Alfie- would someone like to tell me what’s going on here?
Danny- this is Ellie, Ellie Leason she’s….
Jake- she’s a mate
Alfie- oh yeh
Nana- I think you should go back to bed pet, you don’t look well at all
Ellie- I really need to go
Danny- hey what about seeing your….
Jake- go back up El
Ellie- I’m fine
Jake pulled her up, just go
Danny- yeh you should lie down, finally cluing in to what was going on
Alfie- where’s she going to stay, hey?
Ellie- I’ll just get dressed and out of your way
Jake- she can stop in my room
Alfie- fine, I’m going to work
Nana- I’ll make you a nice cup of tea dear; you go on and have a rest
Danny- you’re a star Nana, he kissed her cheek
Nana- oh Danny, why don’t you get some breakfast dear
Jake held Ellie’s hand and walked her back up the stairs, how you feeling?
Ellie- like I’ve been hit by a freight train
Jake opened his bedroom door, just sleep it off, I’ll stick around for a bit
Ellie- ok whatever, I need to sleep
His kissed her cheek and walked back downstairs

Nana- I’ll just take her this tea up and then I’m going shopping
Jake pulled some money out of his wallet, why don’t you buy something nice of yourself Nana
Nana smiled, I don’t need anything dear
Jake- ok why don’t you pick something for dinner
Nana- ok then, she took the money, I’m taking this tea upstairs
Jake- you’re the best Nana
Nana smiled as she walked out of the room
Jake- what’s guna happen if Johnny finds out she’s here?
Danny- we did her a favour
Jake- you think he’s guna see it like that? Were not meant to know her
Danny- relax Johnny won’t find out
Jake- look just keep a lid on it then no one knows she’s here
Danny- ok, ok we gotta get going
Alfie spotted Jake in the square at lunchtime, hey Jake
Jake- what?
Alfie- can you look after the stall for me
Jake- I can’t
Alfie- oh come on please
Jake- I’m sorry Alf
Alfie- where’s Danny?
Jake- café?
Alfie turned and walked into the café
Jake pulled out his key to the front door when Ellie opened it herself, Ellie
Ellie- what you doing here?
Jake- I live here
Ellie- I’ve got to go, see ya later
Jake stood in her way and held her arms, we need to talk
Ellie- I haven’t got time
Jake- tough, he pushed her inside, we've gotta talk
Ellie- look you give me my money and you won’t hear from me again
Jake- what makes you think that?
Ellie sighed, whatever, just give me my money
Jake- I haven’t got it
Ellie- what?
Jake- we lost it
Ellie- you mean Danny was telling the truth
At the surprsie in her voice Jake wanted to smile, about what?
Ellie- you hid the money
Jake- look we were trying to get it back when…
Ellie- when what?
Jake- look we haven’t got it and we have to keep our heads down for a while
Ellie- what have you done?
Jake- nothing just give me sometime
Ellie- fine, stepping away from him
Jake- just like that
Ellie- I have to go, now get out of my way, she walked passed him and towards the doorway
Jake- I’m sorry
Ellie stopped, for what?
Jake- everything
Ellie- apology accepted good-bye
Jake- don’t go
Ellie turned towards him, what?
Jake- hang around for a while
Ellie- why?
Jake- because I want you to
Ellie stood where she was looking at the door, maybe I don’t want to
Jake- just for a few days, I missed you, he stepped forward
Ellie- oh yeh I’m sure you did
Jake- I did, he took her hands, stay
Ellie looked at him, no
Jake kissed her, why not?
Ellie- because I don’t want to, it exploded out of her, I don’t want to be here with you EVER
Jake took a step back, fine
Ellie took a deep breath to make sure she could hold on to her temper, I’ll be back for my money
Jake- I’m sure you will

Ellie stormed out of the house and toward the square when she spotted her dad, knowing he’d figure something out she turned back and walked back to the house on a huff
Jake opened the door
Ellie- you need to hide me, she pushed passed him into the house
Jake- why?
Ellie looked at him, my dad’s back
Jake- oh great
Ellie- yeh well I don’t feel to friendly towards you either
Jake- you know where everything is, he picked up his jacket from the sofa
Ellie- you can’t go
Puzzled he turned round, why?
Ellie- he brought the house, he’s got a key
Jake sat on sofa, and how do you know that?
Ellie- Nana told me
Jake- so
Ellie- he might sneak in
Jake- get a grip
Ellie- you don’t know him like I do
Jake- you’re exaggerating
Ellie- look I don’t want to be here, you don’t want to be here, we both know that, ok
Jake- I don’t mind being here
Ellie- oh shut up
Jake- just getting things straight, he held up his hands as a sing of peace
Ellie- you’re so infuriating

Ellie let out a groan of frustration, ohhhhhhh
Jake stood up and walked out the door and into the kitchen; he went straight to the sink and filled the kettle with water, Ellie!
Ellie stood at the door way, what
Jake- you want one?
Ellie- not if you’re making it, she eyed the kettle with disgust
Jake shrugged his shoulders, suit yourself and turned his back on her to pull a mug from out the cupboard
Ellie walked through to the lounge, sat on the sofa and tried to forget where she was, who she was with, he was so irritating and hard headed it made her want to scream. She took another breath, it didn’t matter, she’d be gone in an hour tops
Johnny spotted Danny on the stall and wandered over, wrong job
Danny- I’m helping Alfie out
Johnny- oh yeh
Danny- yeh an Andy’s gone off somewhere anyway
Johnny- he’s not in?
Danny- nah and Jake’s at the house with… …
Johnny- with who?
Danny- no one don’t worry

Danny- look Nana’s not feeling to well

Jake sat next to her sipping his cup of coffee, watching the T.V.
Ellie- will you stop doing that, she set through her teeth

Ellie got up and stalked around the room

Ellie- tired, she answered shortly
Jake- you should of got some more sleep
Ellie- you could have told me about Alfie and Nana

Ellie- because I felt like a fool this morning, how the hell was I to know they were here

Ellie- exactly, I looked like a complete idiot, that’s not something I’m going to forget

Ellie- I don’t know just something, she flung her arms in the air

Jake stood up facing her, pick something?

Jake- you’ll get your money back

Ellie- your word means nothing to me, just like your promises
Jake- and what’s that suppose to mean, she’d done it again, he was pissed off
Ellie- you know what it means
Jake- now what have I done?
Ellie shoved him, she had to do something with her rage, you’re a man to start
Jake took her arms before she could shove him again, that’s not my fault
Ellie smiled sweetly, it’s not?
Jake- I can’t help that fact, it’s genetics
Ellie- you can help about being an idiot but you don’t, you can’t
Jake- I’m not an idiot, his voice dangerously low
Ellie- oh yeh, she said sweetly, you are
Jake shook her, what is you’re problem?
Ellie- you are, she stepped to him and crushed her mouth to his
Jake slipped his arms around her, holding her in place

Jake kissed her again, and again
Ellie pulled at his shirt, quick

Johnny strolled towards the Moon house whistling, he stopped when he saw Pat, hello Patricia
Pat- what do you want Johnny?
Johnny- I’m just wondered how you are
Pat- I’m fine
Johnny- howz that boss of yours?
Pat- why?
Johnny- it’s called conversation Patricia
Pat- I have to get to work, bye Johnny
Johnny- something I said?
Pat walked away her head in the air
Jake and Ellie lay side by side in the scatter of clothes they’d pulled off in a hurry
Ellie sat up and reached out for her t-shirt, I’m guna have to go
Jake looked up at her, why?
Ellie- away from my dad
Jake- he won’t come here
Ellie- you’ve gotta get back to work, she pulled the t-shirt over her head
Jake- nah Andy’s go off somewhere
Ellie threw his jeans at him, get dressed, she laughed
The knock at the door had her freezing, **** who is it?
Jake pulled on his jeans, I’ll go look, he walked to the front door
Ellie inched her way forward and pulled back the curtains an inch to see her father at the door, oh ****,
Jake- Johnny!
Johnny- can I come in?
Ellie picked up the clothes around her and ran into the adjoining room
Jake- erm…
Johnny stepped through the door
Jake- is there a problem?
Johnny- I want to talk to you about something
Jake- ok, what?
As Johnny stepped into the living room, Ellie managed to hide behind the back of the sofa
Johnny- what’s wrong with you?
Jake- nothing
Johnny- then why are you walking around in your jea…. He trailed off, ahhhh
Jake smiled with embarrassment, I was getting changed
Johnny- is that what it’s called nowadays?
Jake laughed and was looking for Ellie, what did you wana talk about?
Ellie was trying to breath slowly, she couldn’t get upstairs without being seen and she’d prefer for her dad not to see her naked EVER. She was just trying to calculate whether she could get into the other room and through to the kitchen without being seen when she heard her name
Jake- Ellie, your daughter
Johnny- that’s right I’m going to ask her to manage the club, but I want to make sure she stays out of anything dodgy
Jake- what’s that got to do with me?
Johnny- I want you to keep an eye on her
Jake- I don’t even know her Johnny, he was trying to find his shirt
Johnny- lost something?
Jake- no, you want me keep an eye on her?
Johnny- I can’t ask Danny and I don’t want her anywhere near Andy Hunter
Jake- how am I guna do that Johnny?
Johnny- by being a friend
Jake- you want me to be her… friend?
Johnny- exactly, and don’t disappoint me Jake
Jake- ok, but…
Johnny got up from the sofa and smiled, so hows Nana?
Jake- she’s fine
Johnny- really, Danny said she wasn’t feeling well
Jake- no…. I meant she’s feeling better
Johnny- give her my best won’t you’
Jake- sure, see ya Johnny, he closed the door at Johnny’s back and let out a relieved breath, Ellie, he stood in the living room doorway, Ellie where are you?
Ellie popped her head over the back of the sofa and smiled at him
Jake- that was close
Ellie- I suppose it was
Jake smiled at her; you got my clothes there?
Ellie stood up in his shirt and smiled wickedly, why don’t you come and get them
Jake walked around the sofa; well I have got to be your friend
Ellie linked her hands around his neck; yeh and your guna need some practice
Jake bent his head and kissed her
Andy got out of his car in front of the bookies with Eddie
Eddie- well?
Andy- I got all I need
Eddie- so what you guna do?
Andy- wait and see

Johnny got into his car 10 minutes later shutting the door as his daughter stepped out of the Moon’s house with Jake.
Andy sat in his office in the bookies facing Danny, where’s Jake?
Danny- he’s not feeling good
Andy- what did Johnny want to talk to him about?
Danny- none of your business
Andy laughed, ah you don’t know
Danny- I do actually
Andy- right, I need you to clean the bookies
Danny- yeh right
Andy- clean it down, I want the floor so clean I could eat off it
Danny- no way
Andy- excuse me
Danny- I’m not doing it
Andy- yes, you are
Jake opened the door, sorry
Andy- feeling better?
Jake- yeh
Andy- your to clean the whole bookies, everything
Jake- everything
Andy- exactly, get out
Danny- no way, Jake
Jake smiled, sure why not?

A wicked grin spread over Danny’s face, and how we guna do that then?
Pat watched Jake and Danny wipe down the counters. What are you doing?
Danny- spring-cleaning
Pat- what?
Jake- Andy reckons it needs a good clean
Pat- oh right, she laughed as Jim stood in front of her, yes Jim
Jim- £10 on Laura’s star
Pat- it’s your money
Jake watched Danny pour paint stripper into the bucket of clean water, so Pat, what do you reckon?
Pat- looks ok
Jake- you reckon it’ll pass inspection
Pat- don’t see why not
Jake- we’re closing soon right?
Pat- yeh, she eyed him warily
Jake smiled, thank god cus I couldn’t half do with a drink
Danny- thirsty work this cleaning lark
Pat smiled at them cleaning, then you’ll be able to have one soon
Ellie sat in her living room, watching T.V when there was a knock at the door, she got up looked through the peephole to see her father staring at her, what do you want?
Johnny- we need to talk, let me in
Ellie- I’ve got nothing more to say to you
Johnny- well just listen, I’ve got a proposition for you
Ellie- oh yeh?
Johnny- come on open the door
She opened the door and let him in, what is it?
Johnny- you need a job I’ve got one going
Ellie- have you now
Johnny- you interested
Ellie- let’s step into my office, she pointed to the sofa
Johnny laughed; you’re too much like me
Ellie- more than you think, she muttered but sat next to him

When Andy opened the bookies the next morning and didn’t notice anything was wrong, he walked through to his office and saw the dead black rat on his chair. He marched straight out of his office again when Pat, Danny and Jake stepped in to the shop, what the hell are you playing at?
Pat- Andy?
Andy- the dead rat
Jake- what rat?
Andy- the dead one you, he pointed at Jake and Danny, thought would be funny
Jake- I don’t know what you’re talking about, but know he knew why Danny was in such a good mood this morning
Andy- that it was your idiot brother
Danny- excuse me, but we don’t know what you’re talking about, he tried to hide the grin that wanted to spread over his face
Andy- get it cleaned up to now
Danny- what!
Pat- Andy
Andy whirled round at Pat, what?
Pat- what happened to the counters?
Andy- what are you talking about woman?
Pat- the counters Andy, there all lumpy

Ellie stepped out of her car in her sleek black business suit and looked up at the club, Scarlet musta been after his wife, she never knew any part of her dad’s life very well, well until recently. She smiled as she pulled out the brand spanking new set of keys to go in the lock, well daddy, we’ve all gotten what we wanted, well nearly everything. She heard the lock click and opened the door still smiling.
Jake stood next to Danny, the rat?
Danny- a nice touch don’t think
Jake lowered his voice, what about Johnny?

Jake laughed, yeh right thanks for that

Andy watched them, he’d seen her before but from where, where. He looked up and saw Eddie and Darren walking towards them, he pointed at Jake, they looked but carried on walking. Who is she?
Eddie- the same bird he was talking to before I lost em
Andy- how did you lose them?
Eddie- I moved out of sight when I called you
Andy- I wana know who she is
Darren- got it boss; he took out a slim sliver digital camera walked towards them
Eddie- what now?
Andy- they need to be taught a lesson
Ellie- here we go
Jake- what?
Darren- excuse me miss I’m a reporter from the Walford gazette, were doing a survey on restaurants and why the best are they best, can I take your photograph?
Ellie looked at Jake and smirked, why not?
Darren moved so he could get them both in the photo, she smiled and noticing the man standing at the bar she lifted her hand
Darren- thanks, can I ask you a few questions
Ellie- sure
Darren- why do you eat in restaurants?
Ellie- so I don’t have to cook
Darren laughed, anything else
Ellie- I like to get out
Darren smiled and held up his finger, one more thing, what’s your name?
Ellie- Eleanor Leason, they’d never find what they wanted, even her birth certificate didn’t have her fathers name on it

Jake saw Ellie nod at the man in the bar, Jake, Jake Moon
Darren- thanks for your time, enjoy you’re meal

Andy picked up his fork, figure it out
Johnny looked around the imperial rooms it was so easy to get rid of Hunter and add this among Dalton’s others to his property list. He smiled as he watched the van pull up along side the delivery entrance and a greedy employee, start to load a few ‘fenced’ items from his club in to the van, Johnny sighed it would’ve a good plan but there again he was Johnny Allen. He stepped out the of employee entrance, well well Mr Fellows what have we here?
Jack looked up at Johnny, **** what the ****?
Johnny- it was such a good plan as well, but what can I say, he stepped forward and saw the fear race over Jack fellows face, it failed miserably
Andy got back to the bookies before Jake, and he was standing behind Pat when he wandered in.
Andy- you’re late

A week passed with out any trouble, Jake had warned Danny about Andy, Johnny had told him to keep his mouth shut and the news reporter had just revealed that Jack Fellows body had been washed up in the Thames.
Nana- the poor man
Reporter- Mr Fellows was reported missing 4 days ago by his wife, she is said to be devastated and in the company of her family.
Jack Fellows photo was showed on screen, the brutal murder has motivated police to begin a help line, as they can find no reason for his senseless murder.
Danny gulped but carried on listening
Jake- that’s bad
Alfie- they really messed him up
Danny- I don’t wana go that way
Alfie looked over at him, no one does mate
Jake- come on we better get going, he got up and paid Jane
Danny- what do you reckon happened to him?
Jake- messed with the wrong people I guess

Andy- I’ve been thinking about expanding

Eddie closed the door behind Johnny, so

Andy opened the brown envelope, which had been sitting on his desk when he’d walked in. He shook out the contents and three Polaroid photo’s dropped out, he picked one up and turned it over.
Jake and Danny got back to Walford; they walked away from the tube station and heading back to Andy when Johnny spotted them.

Jake- so I’m here, he walked towards the bar

Johnny wandered through the club, it was packed again, just the way he liked it. He spotted Danny and Alfie they were talking Ellie.
Johnny- hey guys
Ellie- Jake’s brother Danny and their cousin Alfie, she smiled, sorry you already know each other

Alfie sniggered, Eleanor
Ellie- shut up

An hour later Ellie got Jake to get Alfie and Danny to go home, that went well

Jake- do you know how much trouble they can get into in the 5-minute walk home? Especially Danny
Ellie- chill mother hen, listen everyone will be out in about half an hour

When Jake awoke the next morning he couldn’t quite see, he turned over and blinked, he looked at Ellie sleeping beside him and smiled, now he remembered. He laughed at the way they’d ripped each others clothes off as she shut the door.
Ellie- why are you laughing? Sleepily she opened her eyes but laid still
Jake- was I?
Ellie- I haven’t got enough energy to hit you
Jake kissed her nose, I remembered last night

Jake looked at his watch, its gone 9
Ellie moaned into the pillow, I’m not getting up
Jake stroked her bare back, why don’t I go make you breakfast in bed
Ellie- I like that idea, in just a minute, she grabbed him and wrestling with him rolled over on the bed.
Danny and Alfie at in the kitchen pale cheeked and heads in their hands, when Nana walked in, oh boys are you ok?
Alfie- we’re fine Nana
Nana- you don’t look fine, are you ill
Danny slowly got up and opened the cupboard searching for alker-selza tablets
Nana put the kettle on, oh boys you aren’t hung over are you?
Danny- I’m afraid so Nana
Nana- let me get you some water
Alfie- its ok Nana
Nana- oh Alfie I want you to have fun, but you really don’t look well
Alfie- I’ll be ok
Nana- here, she set the fizzing water in front of him, drink this
Danny- and go back to bed
Jake strolled in, back to bed, not feeling rough are ya?
Alfie- what do you think?
Jake- well you 2 were ploughed
Danny- were did you get to last night?
Jake- well if you don’t remember I had to help you both up the stairs and out of the club then, do it all over again with all the other drunks
Danny- I can’t remember that
Alfie- what did we do?
Jake- you only embarrassed yourselves slightly, Ellie reckons Johnny thought it was funny
Alfie- really
Jake- yep
Alfie- oh thank god
Danny- where have you been?
Jake- what?
Danny- I may be stupid but even I know they are last night’s clothes
Jake smiled, then figure it out Sherlock
Andy sat in the living room of his house when there was a knock at the door, he put down his coffee, slipped on his jacket and smiling opened the door, gentleman come in.
Danny turned away from Andy’s house and smiled, he pulled out his mobile and headed towards the café, Hunter’s got some flash mates today
Johnny- really?
Danny- yeh, 4 suits just went into the house
Johnny- thanks Danny
Danny- no problem

Jake sat at the table drinking coffee, well what?

Jake- at the minute Alfie I’m drinking coffee in our kitchen

Jake- I’m not telling you what we get up to, he laughed
Alfie- look I’m worried, you’re getting it on with Johnny Allen’s daughter right under his nose, what’s he guna do when he finds out
Jake- he won’t, don’t worry Alfie I know what I’m doing, he got up and grabbed his coat
Alfie turned to Nana, no man does when there’s a pretty face involved
Ellie smiled as she watched Andy Hunter walk out of his house with the 4 other men. She walked deliberately slowly passed them and smiled at Andy then disappeared around the corner out of sight bumping straight into her father, hi
Johnny- hello
Ellie- I’m heading to the club, you coming
Johnny- I’m sure you can handle things
Ellie- what’s up?

Ellie- fine if you don’t wana tell me then don’t, she started passed him

Ellie- I’m sorry but I am the manager and I like to know where my employees are

Ellie walked away, go and do your business it’s obviously important

But she carried on walking and didn’t give him a backward glance
Andy followed Ellie towards the club and then down into it

Danny lowered his voice, cus of Johnny

Andy- oi Danny get back to work
Danny- I’m taking a break

Danny made faces behind his back but followed him to the bookies.
Ellie left the club at lunch time locking the door behind her and headed across the square to the Moon house.
Jake sat in the living room eating a sandwich when the doorbell rang, he got up and looked through the glass and the bell rang again, all right
Ellie- what’s going on?
Jake- nice to see you too
Ellie- I’ve got Alfie giving me side-ways looks and now I’ve been TOLD that you’ve got the day off
Jake- ok
Ellie slammed the door shut at her back, what’s going on Jake?
Jake- you need to calm down
Ellie poked him in the chest, he stepped back, I know there’s something going on I’m not a complete fool

Ellie- aren’t you going to tell me

Ellie sat at her desk with a glass of whiskey in her hand, she stared at the wall, the *******, the ****ing ******* was all she could think. There was a knock at the door which brought her back from her thoughts, what!
Johnny opened the door, hello sweetheart
Ellie sighed, and what do you want?
Johnny- I just came to have a look around the club
Ellie- well you’ve looked so go away
Johnny- you not guna say hello to your dear old dad
Ellie- you’re old and my dad but you’re not dear, you don’t even care
Johnny- Ellie please, of course I care, you’re my daughter I love you
Ellie- look I’m really busy
Johnny wandered over to the desk and looked at the figures, looks like we’re doing ok

Johnny- if you want to meet her and judge her for yourself then I’ll arrange it but I won’t have you interrogating her or putting her out of place
Ellie- you *******, how could you? She walked to the door, but turned back before opening it, how could you lie and tell me you loved me?
Johnny- I’m sorry I’ve wounded your pride, hurt your feelings but you wanted to know
Ellie- and I wish I hadn’t found out, you’re definitely not the person I thought you were, she closed the door and left him there staring after her
Annie- what’s up?
Ellie- just another chat with dear old dad

While Jake sat with Nana in the living room of number 41 as Ellie downed another drink and looked around the club, her vision was beginning to blur so she decided it was time to get up, but a bit unsteady she managed to get out of the club without falling over.
Alfie- why don’t we go for a drink?
Jake- I’m not in the mood
Alfie- just a quick one, I need to get out of here
Jake- Alfie
Alfie- please come on I’ll even buy you one
Nana- go on Jake, I think it’s a good idea

Ellie- see what I mean, they lie, cheat and expect you to just stand there a look pretty

Ellie- yeh well, I’m sure it’s not been burnt down, she began giggling

Ellie had noticed all the faces now turned in her direction, did you forget to share that with you’re friends as well, tut tut dad, you need to learn how to tell the truth and not just when you’re cornered
Johnny- that’s it get out
Jake- Johnny, he put his hand on his arm, come on Ellie
Ellie- don’t you come on Ellie me, you’re just as bad as him, she said with disgust, men, she shouted, should be drowned at birth, save the female of the species a lot of hassle
Jake and Johnny managed to strong arm her out of the Vic before she could shout and embarrass herself any more.
Johnny- could you humiliate yourself any more?
Ellie- what do you care?
Jake- look you both just need calm down, she didn’t mean it, he told Johnny
Ellie- how the hell would you know what I meant, he’s supposed to be my dad, she turned away, weaving in a wavy line she managed to get onto the benches before falling on to them, oh ****, ****
Johnny- its ok thanks Jake
Jake- you want me to follow her?
Johnny- no, I’m taking her home whether she likes it or not
Jake stood outside the pub listening to Johnny trying to get Ellie in the car
Ellie- just get away from me, I need a drink
Johnny- I think you’ve had enough
Ellie pushed him aside, get lost! who do you think you are trying to tell me what to do, I’m 25 years old I don’t need or want you anymore and you can stuff your job! Ha
Johnny sat in the club it was closed and he just looked around, what the hell was he guna do now? Had he destroyed his relationship with his daughter? Forever?

Alfie opened the doors of the Vic as Jake did and they almost collided, hey
Jake- you want another?
Alfie- she ok?
Jake stared at the deserted street where she’d stumbled off, I hope so
Alfie- you coming back in?
Jake- yeh I owe you a drink
Alfie laughed and swung his arm around Jake’s shoulders, come on then Mr Moon
Jake smiled as the doors swung shut behind them
When Ellie awoke the next morning just moving her head had her in pain and her stomach felt as though she’d swallowed a lot of slimy fish. She turned and leaning over the edge of the bed was violently sick.
Johnny sat up in bed and looked at Tina lying beside him, they’d talked the night before but it still wasn’t enough. How would he tell Ruby? And would he really have to?
Tina opened her eyes and smiled at him, morning
Johnny- do you want some coffee?
Tina- coffee sounds great
Andy knocked on the door to the Moon house and smiled when he heard some one all but fall down the stairs. The door opened and Jake just stood looking at Andy, what?
Andy- come on it’s after 9 and I need you 2 at the bookies
Jake- what?
Andy- I wana see both of you awake and presentable in my office in 20 minutes
Jake- 20 minutes
Andy turned and walked away, better get him up
Ellie swallowed the white pills in her hand and lay her head back against the wall, she was still in bed, she’d managed to slowly reach in the draw to get the pills and water but she couldn’t stop shaking, she was so cold. She closed her eyes and tried to block out the memory of the night before.
People all around the square were talking about the outburst in the Vic last night.
Pauline- can you believe it all this time and we didn’t have a clue
Dot- but it’s none of our business is it Pauline?
Pauline- may be not but she’s his daughter
Dot- and that’s family business, you know what it’s like
Pauline- what do you mean?
Dot- having your family business talked about, its just not nice Pauline and I for one am not adding to the gossip
Johnny- thank you Mrs Branning
Dot and Pauline quickly turned around to Johnny Allen standing behind them with a large bag full of clothes.
Dot- oh Mr Allen, how are you?
Johnny- I’m fine thank you Mrs Branning, could you put this in as a service wash? He smiled winningly
Dot- of course, you can collect it later
Johnny smirked as Pauline kept quiet, thank you Mrs Branning
Dot smiled and lifted the bag off the counter; it’s Dot Mr Allen
Johnny- make it Johnny Dot, he smiled and turned away

Pauline jumped but keep her lips in a tight frown, yes thank you

She pulled out the pills and took 2 more then walked slowly to the bathroom to take a shower, she had some thinking to do.
Bravo. Like Johnny's comment about dont make faces Danny. Sure he has a spare eye. More soon babes.

Andy- you’ll have to take tips from Danny, but then again he’s got Sam so you’re both losers, he laughed
Jake swung his fist out and hit Andy’s jaw, he smiled with satisfaction as he saw Andy’s head explode back and stumble, before he could follow through with his left Danny was standing next to him, Jake, Jake you ok?
Andy- that’s it!
Jake- oh shut up, he lunged at Andy and punched him again knocking him to the floor
Pat- Andy! Jake!
Danny- Jake, he pulled him back, Jake what’s going on?
Andy- that’s it get out I ain’t having you in here any longer
Danny pulled Jake away and managed to stand between his brother and Andy
Pat- Andy are you ok?
The bookies had gone completely silent, every one’s head had turned to watch the commotion, the favourite had just won his race but no one cheered or even glanced at the screen.
Andy- get him out now, he all but shouted
Danny- Jake you ok?

Andy wiped the blood from his mouth, just get this cleaned up, pointing to the blood splattered on the floor as he opened his office door

Danny smiled hoping to cheer him up; best offer I’ve had today
Jake laughed and started walking, come on then
Ellie sat in front of her mirror applying her make up, she covered up the dark circles under her eyes, and dusted blusher over her cheeks to add some colour to her still pale face. She picked up her mobile and smiled as Andy’s name came up on the screen; time to put her well-formed plan into action.
Danny and Jake sat at a table in Scarlet watching Johnny take in the information they’d just given him
Johnny- you did what?
Danny- well he deserved it
Johnny- I expect this from Danny Jake but you, what the hell got in to you?
Jake- I couldn’t take it anymore
Johnny- look this was a good opportunity for both of us

Ellie stepped into the bookies and smiled wickedly, how could Mr Hunter resist? A meeting with Johnny Allen’s daughter was just to good to miss and she was glad she was here. She walked up to the counter where Pat had her back turned counting out money.

Ellie shook his hand over the desk, oh and don’t even think about the tricks, remember what happened to the last one?

Andy- ok, he looked slightly confused

Ellie smiled evilly, what ever happened to your photographer? You did get the pictures didn’t you?

Ellie- like I said, I won’t be played or intimidated, 3 grand Andy
Andy- no way
Ellie played with the strap of her bag, well that’s just too bad
There was a knock on the door and Ellie saw with pleasure, Andy jump then stand Ridgley still
Pat- Andy
Andy- what, irritated that Ellie had spooked him
Pat opened the door; here are the day’s takings
Andy snatched them out of her hand, fine you can go
Pat looked from Andy pale face to Ellie’s smiling one; don’t you want me to bank it? There’s over 3 grand there
Andy- I’ll take care of it, I said you can go, he repeated jumpily
Pat- fine, see you tomorrow she shut the door with a snap of impatience
Ellie smiled and pulled the money from his hand, that’ll cover it, slate wiped, I’ll be seeing you soon Mr Hunter and pushing the money into her handbag walked confidently out of the bookies.
She managed to get outside before she burst out laughing the look on Andy’s face when he heard the knock, the colour had just drained from his face, oh this would be fun, so much fun she couldn’t believe she hadn’t thought of it before.
Johnny dialled the number in to his mobile and let it ring until someone picked up
Ellie- hello
Johnny- I’m glad to see you’re still alive
Ellie- I’m fine, thanks for asking dad
Johnny- what’s going on?
Ellie- could ask you the same thing, but I’d never know whether what you’re telling me is the truth, would I?
Johnny- look I know you’re upset why don’t you let me explain
Ellie- I’m past caring about your explanations but you might wana practice, for when Ruby comes home for the holidays, seeing as Tina’s all but living with you
Johnny- Ellie that’s not fair
Ellie- hasn’t any one ever told you, life ain’t fair. She put the phone down and screaming threw it on to the sofa where it bounced off and fell on to the floor.
When it began ringing again she stood up took a deep breathe then picked up the bottle of wine and calmly poured herself a glass.

Three days had passed and Ellie still hadn’t entered the square, leaving Jake and Johnny to answer questions. Jake was beginning to get a little nervous as when everything came back to him, what she’d said would have made them more than friends and Johnny hadn’t mentioned it or him punching Andy since the beginning of the week.
Andy- look at you standing in the gutters
Jake- beats working for you hands down
Andy laughed, yeh right but I gotta say suits you both down to the ground
Danny lunged forward but Jake had all ready grabbed him
Jake- I gotta say Andy if you’ve got nothing better to do that stand here with us, doesn’t that make you the loser too?
Andy picked up his mobile and walked away
Danny- you shoulda let me kill him
Jake- just leave him, he’s doing it to wind you up
Danny- he is
Jake- and that’s the point, come on Danny
Danny reluctantly turned away from where Andy had disappeared around the corner and followed Jake.
Danny stood behind the bar pulling bottles out of a crate and putting them on to the bar so Jake could do a stock take. This is boring

Ellie stood up in front of him, think of it Jake, the thrill off taking a million from their unsuspecting hands, she slid her hands up his chest, it’d be fun, risky
He looked at her; you think you can manipulate me this way?

Jake gripped her waist, no; but he kissed her hard and brought her against him

Johnny pulled up out side Ellie’s building, he got out the car and looked up at the top floor and the small balcony that stuck out of the wall. He took a deep breath and opened the door.
Alfie- what’s going on Hunter?
Andy- I wanted you all here but well, things happen for a reason
Alfie- just leave us alone
Andy- after what you’ve done, I don’t think so
Jake got off the train and pulling out his mobile again began to walk down the stairs, come on Danny. He tried Alfie but it was just ringing and ringing, he looked towards the club and marched toward the open doors he was extremely pissed off, as he opened the door he heard something smash loudly and ran down the stairs.
Ellie smiled as she opened the door, and what can I do for you dad?
Johnny- look we really need to talk this through
Ellie stood still, I thought we all ready did
Johnny- no you did most of it
Ellie held open the door, fine say your piece and then leave

Nurse- your friend was right to worry, this will need stitches and you’ll have to have a head x-ray to make sure there’s no other damage and we’ll have to keep you in overnight
Alfie- overnight?
Jake- but he’s guna be all right though?
Nurse- it’s just a precaution as he lost consciousness
Alfie- but I can’t, what about Nana?
Jake- I’ll take care of her Alfie I promise
Alfie- but-
Jake- look I’ll phone Danny know tell him to go over and stay with Nana
Alfie- Danny, come on Jake
Jake- then when you’ve finished here I’ll go over and stay with her explain, while Danny’s at work
Nurse- you’re going to be admitted overnight Mr Moon; I’ll go and get the admission papers

Danny picked up the bloodied clothes and walked out to the back, he opened the door and inched his way outside. He looked around checking to see no one was watching and dumped the clothes in recycle bin.

He put his key in the front door and opened it, Nana you ok?
Nana- I’m fine darling, where’s Alfie?
Danny looked around the square and spotted the bookies, he walked over but all the lights were off, he smiled and with a gloved hand threw a brick through the window. The window smashed into thousands of pieces that rained down on the pavement like crystals. He dusted off his hands and walked away across the square to Scarlet.
Johnny- please Ellie
Ellie- I’m just a witness
Johnny- Ruby can you come down here please
Ruby jogged down the stairs, what is it?
Johnny- I need to talk to you and Ellie
Ruby- ok what about?
Ellie- come on let’s go and sit in the kitchen
Ruby stood where she was, what’s going on?

Ellie had all ready walked through and put the kettle on and Johnny followed Ruby in

Ellie looked across the table at her little sister the hurt on her face was visible, what was she doing?

Johnny looked up at Ellie
Ellie- only a couple of months
Ruby- why?
Johnny- I just wanted to be sure first
Ellie- you wouldn’t want to meet someone, like her that it not work out
Ruby- yeh but
Johnny- we’ve been seeing each other for a while and I really like her Ruby
Ruby- what about mum?
Johnny took a deep steadying breath, I will always love your mum but I need to move on
Ruby- but you won’t even talk to me about it
Johnny- it still hurts
Ruby- it hurts me too you know, I don’t want to know anything else, she pushed up from the table knocking her chair to the floor, I want to be on my own, she ran out of the room and straight up the stairs.
Johnny- thanks
Ellie- I didn’t do that for you, I did it for her, the truth would have destroyed her, and there’s no way I would do that to her, she’s been through enough. She walked across the kitchen with a single tear spilling down her cheek and carried on until she’d closed the front door behind her. She wiped away the tear and walked slowly towards her car, smiling at the flashing lights just ahead.
Ruby lay on her bed staring up at the ceiling, what was going on? How could be doing this? What about her mum? she turned on her side and took the picture from the bedside cabinet, she traced a finger over her mums face and let the tears fall.

Andy stared at the Window and his anger began to boil, he turned and looked at Eddie
Andy- find out who it was, I don’t care just do it
PC Towers- Mr Hunter
Andy- what happened here?
PC Towers- as you can see the window has been smashed, we’ve been inside and can’t see any more damage you’re very lucky
Andy- you call this lucky?
PC Towers- they was nothing stolen, probably just kids
Andy- I don’t care if it was just kids, I want to know who do this to my property
PC Towers- we’re doing everything we can
Andy- it’s not good enough, he stalked off to his car and he pulled out his mobile.
Ellie drove past the bookies and a wicked smile crept over her face when she saw the damage.
as she slowed down, PC Towers knocked on the window
Ellie- is there a problem officer?
PC Towers- is this your usual route?
Ellie- out of this place it is
PC Tower- were you around the vicinity earlier today
Ellie- no I’ve been visiting my father
PC Towers- could you give me his name and address, it would help us with our inquiries

Andy sat in his living room in the dark; he looked around the room and felt no emotion. He picked up the glass with amber whiskey in and threw it against the wall. He was angry oh he as very angry, but this time some one would pay and pay dearly. He smiled to himself in the dark and picking up the bottle began to laugh.
Jake sat in the kitchen staring at the walls, had it come to this, everything he’d done come down to this one moment? The one moment in time when a man let his weakness rule and was forever hounded by it. He remembered Alfie sitting in the elegant club bleeding because Andy Hunter had wanted pay back. His mobile began ringing, he looked at the light flashing in the dark and sighed, it was now or never, yeh
Johnny looked around the house he’d made his home and thought of his daughter lying upstairs asleep, and the other, the other god knows where, because he couldn’t be the father she wanted, couldn’t be just could be. He flicked the light switch and walked slowly up the stairs.
Ruby was lying awake; all the things that had been said were running through her head. She saw the light spill under her door and the footsteps outside and turning over closed her eyes.
Johnny opened the door and looked over at her sleeping, he wandered over to the bed and stroked her hair. Good night Ruby, he slipped out again closing the door behind him.

Andy leant back in his chair, is that a threat?
Ellie leant forward placing her hands on the desk, oh I don’t make threats, they’re for people like you, the small time who try and think big. I’m making you a promise, right here and now, cross me and you’ll live to regret it, or not as the case maybe

Ellie- oh but I do and your too much of a slime ball to admit it, even to yourself, which my friend, gives me the upper hand. Now, she straightened and pulled her jacket into place. I’ll look these over discuss these with my key people and get back to you, this needs to be done next week

Danny- ok, ok, who’s going to fetch Alfie?
Jake- looks like its guna be me, look you can get some one to cover the stall while I go get Alfie and you can sit with Nana, spruce the place up a bit, just make sure you’re here when Alfie gets here

Ellie stood looking at the club, but turned away and walked back to Albert square and the café.

Johnny walked pass the café, on his mobile as Ellie opened the door, she watched him walk away, and turned her back on him and headed towards the club. She saw Eddie walk towards the Moon’s house and pulled out her mobile
Danny- Ellie
Ellie- just a heads up, but I reckon you’re about to be watched
Danny- what?
Ellie- look out the window and see
Danny looked at the mobile as she hung up and walked to the window, he looked out and watched Eddie walk by scanning the house.
Jake heard the footsteps, we’re closed, but they continued, he turned round as Ellie walked down the last of the stairs, I said we’re-
Ellie smiled, I heard you
Jake- what do you want?
Ellie- now that’s not a very nice way to greet me, now is it0
Jake watched her, you want small talk? Never had that with you before, the insult hit it’s mark and he watched it play over her face, but her steps never faltered
Ellie- well we were always in a hurry
Jake- really
Ellie- you know Hunter’s after you, she continued to slowly walk towards him like a hunter stalking its prey
Jake- he doesn’t bother me
Ellie- I’m glad to hear it, because we’re in business

Danny sat in the living room, this was stupid he couldn’t go out and sort that prick Eddie out because he had to look after Nana. He heard her puttering around in the kitchen and got up to stand in front of the window, AGAIN. He jumped as his mobile rang, Jake
Jake- we’re being watched
Danny- I know I can see him from here
Jake- see who from where?
Danny- that putz Eddie from the living room
Jake- he’s outside the house?
Danny- he wouldn’t be if I could go out there

Johnny sat in the Vic, he picked up his orange juice and sipped as he saw Andy come in and look around, he wasn’t hidden among the people that was one ting Johnny Allen never did he never hid, not from anyone.

Jake sat looking through the piles of papers generated by a search of a man he knew nothing about. He picked up a piece of paper and was about to chuck it when he noticed the name, ANDY HUNTER, spelt out in bold capital letters. Mr Hunter had some explaining to do as he began to read the document he pulled his mobile out from his pocket, with a huge grin on his face.
Andy leant back and sipped his drink, well
Johnny- I need to know whether you can do it Andy
Andy- I can do it but why am I dealing with him and you’re not?
Johnny smiled, you’re not dealing with him Jake is, but I need you to set up the meet, make him trust you
Andy- ok so what’s in it for me?
Johnny- the sale will be 15 grand you get 5
Andy- a third
Johnny- it’s old and only just worth that, and you know what I don’t need the money
Andy- so what’s the catch?
Johnny- there ain’t one but the offer stands for 24 hours, you don’t get back to me deals off

Ellie rubbed scented moisturiser on to her skin as she waited for Jake. She put the coffee pot on and looked over the blue prints lying on her coffee table. She placed the tube down when the doorbell rang. She smiled and got up to answer it.

Jake leant forward to kiss her as he shut the door behind him
Ellie smiled, no bruises so you didn’t go any rounds with Johnny
Jake- well erm…
Ellie- oh what have you done?
Jake- nothing, it’s just he’s known for a while

Jake- he’s been making me sweat on purpose

Danny sat in the kitchen with Nana and Alfie, where’s Jake?
Alfie- laughed, where do you think?
Danny- oh great
Alfie- hey if he wants to play with fire you should let him, he’s a big boy
Danny- yeh, he sipped his coffee and felt put out, left out again
Johnny walked through the square and bumped into Jake, Jake
Jake nodded at him, Johnny
Johnny- out for a morning stroll?
Jake- guna get changed then head to the club
Johnny- really
Jake- erm… I’ve gotta go
Johnny- its ok Jake, you don’t have to worry
Jake- right
Johnny- listen we’ve got a promoter coming over later, give em the old hev-ho will ya?
Jake laughed, sure we walked away and didn’t notice that Danny had watched the last bit of their conversation and was stood by Zoë’s stall all but fuming from the ears.
Three days passed quickly, the days were filled with work for Johnny and the nights, Jake sighed and the nights, the nights were filled with devious planning and scheming.
Danny- what’s wrong with you?
Jake- nothing
Danny- you’ve be gloomy all day
Jake- I said it was nothing
Danny- what’s going on?
Jake- look I’ve all ready told you, nothing now will you just get of my case
Danny- fine, I’ll leave you to it, he picked up his jacket and walked away and up the stairs

Johnny sat in the office at the club, he was going over paper work when his phone rang, hello, ahhhh, yeh, thanks for the heads up, I’ll see you soon
Alfie watched Danny storm out of the club and slam the door, what’s up
Danny- Jake he’s hiding something from me I just know it

Danny- I just know it, he’s jumpy, gloomy, moody, he’s been like that for a week

The same night Danny and Alfie were in the living room of number 41.
Danny- something’s going on
Alfie sat stiffly on the sofa, what?

Part 49
Danny was at number 41 packing a bag, he didn’t want to go but Jake clearly didn’t want him around any more. He wasn’t speaking to him, he wasn’t telling him what was going on, they’d always been a team, but now, he was constantly with Ellie or Johnny, he didn’t have time for his family. Well that didn’t bother him cus he didn’t have anytime for HIM either. He zipped up the bag and slipped it under his bed, he’d get some cash together and leave, he’d do better on his own anyway, he didn’t need Jake, he was better off on his own.
Alfie looked around the market and watched Johnny stop and speak to Andy, the man was a prick Andy Hunter needed shoving down a notch or two and he hope Johnny did it, and soon.
Ellie sat in her flat looking over the plans again; she went over the steps of the job in her head, getting, getting to the safe, passing everything along and then the grand finale the switching of Andy’s money. She smiled to herself, she was smug and she could feel the adrenaline begin to pump through her veins, this would be a night to remember. She got up as a knocked sounded at the door and with a glass of wine in her hand walked slowly towards the door.
Sat in the black Mercedes with the black tinted windows, at the stop they’d previously arranged and waited, he was good at that, he’d come out on top, he always did.
Jake and Ellie walked slowly towards the back of a tall brick building, she pulled out a key and opened the door for them
Jake- you ready?
Ellie- the others are inside
Jake nodded and kissed her, good luck; they closed the door behind them and turned in opposite directions.
Johnny sat in the office at the club, completely unaware of what his daughter was up to while he sat in his cushy leather chair. He pulled out his mobile and began dialling numbers.
Jake looked around the dark room and pulled a small pen light out of his pocket he looked around and smiled when he saw the electricity cables and fuse boxes. He walked forward slowly then heard footsteps outside, he crept behind the door and stood silently, not daring to move until the sound had died away.
Ellie closed and locked the door behind her then smiled when she reached for a lamp and saw two men all ready at the safe tools in hand, she nodded boys
Dylan- we’re gotten started
Ellie- don’t mind me, I’m just hear to collect.
Andy sat in the car with the radio playing; he looked over at Eddie who was moving his head to the rhythm, well
Eddie- 10 minutes to go
Andy smiled, this has been so easy
Eddie- what about tomorrow night

Part 50.............
Ellie watched the thick wads of money being taken out of the safe and placed in the small black cases. Her heart pumped and the adrenaline pumped through her veins and made her feel alive. When the two men and closed the suit cases, she pulled a gun out of her bag, sorry boys the silencer on the small black gun made a small sound like some one blowing out a candle. The two men fell backwards and stared up at her with dead eyes, the blood trickled slowly out of the bullet wounds in their heads, but she stepped over them and picked up the cases herself. Thanks boys
20 minutes later, Andy saw Jake and Ellie walking towards the car in his wing mirror, he turned to Eddie, here we go
Ellie held two of the cases and had the gun tucked into the back of her jeans, in case Andy decided to be stupid and Jake held the other two. Mr Hunter
Andy took the cases from her and placing them on the boot opened them to star at the money, everything went ok
A sly smiled spread across Ellie’s lips, all according to plan
Andy handed her another set of keys, my part of the bargin
Jake- what?
Ellie turned her head towards Jake, we need a car Jake
Jake- then let’s go
Ellie started to turn her back when Eddie grabbed her arm
Andy- no so fast
Ellie- excuse me
Andy- now how is it fair that I only get half
Ellie smiled, you’re being stupid Hunter
Jake- Andy leave it, you’ve got your share
Andy- I don’t think so
On a sigh Ellie pulled he gun from her back and pointed it at Eddie’s head, it would make an awful mess if I pulled the trigger now

Ellie- and it wouldn’t make a sound

Ellie- you see I knew you’d try an stunt like this, so I brought this along, makes you see reason quicker, don’t it, oh and let go of my arm Eddie
Jake- put the gun down Ellie, ****
Eddie let go of her arm and watched her finger on the trigger, don’t shoot me Ellie
Ellie- but if you think about it, if I shot him now would it make a difference Andy?
Andy- ok maybe I got a little greedy, you’ve got a gun for Christ sake
Jake- Ellie why don’t you just put it down
Ellie- I’ll tell you what Hunter, you get in the car and turn on the engine, I’d may be think about letting your pal here live
Andy- you’ll shoot me in the back
Ellie- do as I say or I might decide to go all trigger happy and shot you both now
Andy walked backwards keeping his face towards her, watching her as he got in the car and started the engine
Ellie laughed as she pushed Eddie away, don’t run Eddie nice and slow towards the car
Eddie got to the car jumped in shut his door and they sped off
Jake- for crying out loud Ellie

Jake- put the gun on safety and chuck it

Ellie laughed, course not it was to show Andy the prat, he’s an idiot. She tapped her hand to his cheek, don’t worry
Eddie- she’s a ****ing psycho

Eddie- she held a bloody gun to my head
Andy- she needs sorting out, soon as I’ve got this money in a safe place along with Johnny’s she needs to be dealt with.

Jake made the turn in to her building car park with ease, what went on back there?
Ellie- what do you mean? She undid her seat belt
Jake- with the gun and Andy

Jake slammed the car door, fine
Danny stood in a suit out in the cold night’s air watching the people who wandered into Angie’s den.

Danny crept down the stairs, smiling at people who shouted out a hello and the walked through the back to Johnny’s office. He listened for any noises, sounds and then opened the door and locked it behind him.
Jake lay in bed with Ellie, he was staring up at the ceiling playing the night over and over it his mind.
Ellie- what’s up?
Jake- why Ellie, why?
Ellie sighed and sat up, like I told you before, I knew Andy would try and pull something like that and I thought hell with it he needs to be put in his place, so I brought it along with me
Jake- was it loaded?

Ellie- look it was a scare tactic, that what I used it for and that’s what happened

Part 52.............
While Jake, Ellie, Alfie and Nana slept in their beds, Danny pulled out the bag from under his bed and placed the money inside. He zipped it up and then taking a last look around the room walked out and down the stairs. He looked around the hall and back through to the kitchen to make sure no one was up and then grabbing his coat opened the door and started his own journey.
The next morning Johnny sat in the kitchen eating a slice of toast when Ruby came in, in her dressing gown.
Johnny looked up, morning sweetheart
Ruby- why are you mad at Ellie?
Johnny- I’m not
Ruby- I’ve not seen her all week
Johnny- she’s busy, she looking after the club for me while I’m away so you’ll be able to see her
Ruby- I’m glad we’re all ok again
Johnny kissed the top of her head, I’ve got to go, Stacey will be round soon won’t she?
Ruby smiled, yeh, don’t worry dad, just go
Danny got off the train in Newcastle and looked around the station. He was a pay phone and pulling out a little book he called a mate.
Jake and Ellie sat in her small table staring at the money; it was sat in suitcases everywhere
Ellie- what you going to do with it?
Jake- I duno
Ellie- where you guna take it?
Jake- I’ll store it in a lock up, till I decide
Ellie smiled, what are you doing today?
Jake smiled, I haven’t decided yet, so what did you have in mind?

Johnny got in to his car after swinging his suitcase in the boot and waving good-bye to Ruby. He drove off out of Albert square to see his contact about tonight and the plan.

Alfie sat in the house watching the telly, he wanted to get up and about, get back to the stall but Nana had ordered rest. She’d been so glad when he’d come home, he didn’t want to worry her so he was going along with her. He looked at the photographs on the mantle piece above the fireplace; he saw the one of, him, Spencer, Jake and Danny and wondered if he’d seen Danny what day
Andy stood in the bookies and handed Eddie a bag, where we decided yeh
Eddie nodded, boss
Andy- we’ll pick it up on our way
Eddie- you sure
Andy-oh yeh, this should go fine
Eddie- what about Johnny?
Andy- what about him, he’s retired, just put the money somewhere safe
Eddie- will do, I’ll see you later then
Danny sat in the living room of his mates grotty flat
Rich- so where’s Jake?
Danny- he’s staying on

Danny- yep, so what you been up to?

Jake sat at home watching the TV thinking about the night ahead, went over and over the steps in his head, nothing could go wrong, nothing would go wrong, it was straight forward and simple.

Jake- I’ve been off with him, had things on my mind, he’s working at the club tonight anyway

Ellie stood in the middle of scarlet wearing a short demin skirt and black halter neck top, she walked to the bar and poured herself a drink, people would be arriving soon, she smiled to herself and made a little toast, 'to the con it was all so easy'

Andy sat in the car listening to music when Jake opened the door and slid in to the driver’s seat beside him.
Andy turned, bout time
Jake- all right mate
Andy stared at Jake
Johnny opened the Andy’s door; let’s you and me have a conversation
Andy got out the car, Eddie
Johnny- always the quiet ones
They walked around the car with Johnny leading the way. Jake got out of the car and walked down the road towards Johnny’s car.
Andy turned to Johnny when the reached the bridge, if you’ve known all this time, why’d you let it go ahead, what was it? Just an excuse to off me?
Johnny laughed, off you; bit old fashioned ain’t it, who said anything about that?
Andy- well at least its not somewhere quiet or I would be worried
Johnny- what do you think I am, like I said I’m retiring from all that
Nick looked around the club, nice place

Alfie- he’s working at the club

The Vic doors opened and the noise blasted into the air like a bullet; a large group of men walked out and whistled at Ellie
Ellie- piss off

Jake and Johnny drove into Albert Square and stopped as they saw Ellie and Nick in the middle of the square

Ellie- its ok Jake, just stay back
Nick- well well Mr Allen, I was hoping you’d be by
Johnny- what’s going on?
Ellie- he’s on a job
Johnny looked blackly at her, so?
Ellie rolled her eyes, he kills people for money dad
Johnny leapt towards his daughter and Nick fired a shot that flew past his ear, let’s not do anything rash
Johnny- what’s going on?
Nick- I had to take this one, Hey Ellie you remember Hunter don’t you
Ellie- Andy?
Nick- I had a nice little chat with him, filled me in on what you were doing
Ellie- really, he pay for this did he, she knew her time was up, but damn it, if she wouldn’t go without a fight, she knew what she was doing
Nick- yeh actually, but which one outta you three is it?
Ellie- that would be me wouldn’t it, I wouldn’t give him a bigger share, I pulled a gun on him, plus it would be a big kick in the teeth for Johnny having to watching his daughter die
Johnny- Ellie don’t be stupid
Ellie- that’s what this is about, ain’t it Nick
Nick smiled at her, he looked like a lunatic, that was quick work
Ellie- yeh well, so we guna get this over with or not
Jake- he’s dead, panic swept through him like ice, turning everything inside him cold
Nick- what?
Johnny- did you get all the money for this, cus I’ve just seen him and he doesn’t look pretty
Nick- what?
Johnny- he’s dead mate, you ain’t getting any more money outta him now
Nick pointed the gun at Ellie, well it’s a good job he paid me in advance then, ain’t it
Ellie- Nick if you were really guna do this, you’ve done it by now! She’d sacrifice herself for those she loved, taunt him, make him do it her mind screamed
Nick- I like a little build up, plus we need to talk
Jake- look mate just put the gun down
Ellie sighed, about what?
Nick- the baby you aborted
Ellie- really and why’s that, you think it was yours?
Jake- Ellie! Just put the gun down Nick, no one needs to get hurt
Nick- I know it was mine
Ellie- well it wasn’t and you know what even if was; I’d had an abortion anyway
Nick- you know it was mine
Ellie- how’d you work that out?
Nick trailed the gun from her head to her heart, tell me the truth
Ellie- the truth, you want the truth
Nick- I said so didn’t I, he screamed, the words echoing around the empty square.
Ellie- I was only sleeping with you Nick so I could get info on Brown, I needed you onside, I needed a ticket to get to Brown and you were it
Nick- I want the truth
Johnny- Ellie stop it, just calm down Nick, we can talk this through
Nick pointed the gun at Johnny, I said shut up, any one of you move just one inch and I’ll blow her brains out
Jake stood still, he was frozen to the spot, how could this be happening? Why wasn’t him?
Nick turned back to Ellie, I said the truth
Ellie- I needed to get close to Brown and you were the perfect con, I could string you along while getting to Brown, it’s your own fault
Jake- Ellie
Ellie- truth or lies Jake, there practically the same thing
Nick- why did you abort my baby?
Ellie- it wasn’t yours Nick, I was sleeping with some one else the whole time
Nick- you’re a liar, lying ****ing bitch
Johnny- Nick just calm down we can talk about this properly, I can sort you out a deal
Nick heard the police sirens wailing towards him, all around him, who called the cops?
Ellie- you’re done Nick, they’re guna lock you up, put you in a cage
Jake looked at Ellie, will you shut up for crying out aloud, do you wana die?
Ellie- he’s not going to shot me, she turned to look at Nick, he’s a coward
Nick pointed the gun at her and smiled, bitch, he pulled the trigger and Ellie fell backwards
Johnny tried to grab the gun from Nick, but he’d already pointed it towards himself, Johnny pulled his hand, but Nick pulled the trigger and felt to the floor.
Jake rushed over and put his hand over the bullet hole in her chest, you’ll be ok, it’s all right, call a ****ing ambulance
Ellie smiled, I’m sorry
Johnny pulled out his mobile and stood staring down at his daughter lying on the ground, dieing, blood trickling on to the pavement.
Jake- its ok, don’t worry, he pressed harder on the wound, blood was pouring from it
Ellie- didn’t think he’d… do it
Jake looked at her, her skin was grey and her blood was pouring over his hands, on to the road. You’ll be all right, I can hear the ambulance
Johnny knelt by her side and stroked her hair, just hold on
Ellie smiled, it’s ok dad, I’m dying, her voice was quiet down to a mutter
Jake- no your not, don’t be stupid
Ellie- it was yours Jake
Jake stared at her, don’t think about it now, just try and hold on, he looked up and saw the ambulance
Ellie- Jake, her voice was no more than a whisper, I loved you… it scared me… then you were gone
Jake saw the paramedics pull Johnny away from her, I love you
Ellie smiled at him, I love you, blood spluttered from her mouth and she was gone
Another paramedic pulled Jake aside and began chest compressions, no pulse we need to shock her
Paramedic 1- clear, shocking at 180
Paramedic 2- nothing
Paramedic 1- clear, shocking at 180 again

Part 56.................................
Johnny could still remember standing there in the freezing cold watching the paramedic’s fight to save his daughter’s life. He knotted his tie and looked down at the black suit and white shirt. There was a knock at his bedroom door
Ruby- dad
Johnny opened the door and saw her in her long black dress, what is it sweetheart?
Ruby- there here, she’s here, tears ran down her cheeks
Johnny put an arm around her shoulders and walked down stairs with her
Jake walked through the doors of the church and walked slowly behind the coffin with Johnny and Ruby. Ruby was crying tears falling silently down her cheeks as she walked between them. Johnny looked devastated, he held Ruby close and stared straight ahead. Jake looked at Ellie's coffin and remembered her laugh, it sounded through his head as the bells began to bong the hour. I love you; those had been her last words, the last words she’d ever spoken and he’d never known if they were true. Johnny put his hand on Jake’s shoulder, of course they were, they had to be, he would always believe she loved him as he loved her. Truth and lies were miles apart, there was a big difference and in her heart she’d believed that too.
