Jill Halfpenny who plays Kate Mitchell said on the radio that a return could well be on the cards in future.

Good. She's a really good actress and I wish they'd have kept her on in the first place.
She would certainly make a difference to EE. Such positive signs ahead...
She said once she'd finished being on stage she would like to go back and the producers are keen so who knows what that could mean? For me it spells an almost confirmed return.
Now I don't want to see a Phil/ Kate thing start again. Kate has potential to go to more interestng places without Phil/ Peggy

Yes it is but it's an empty building at the moment. I didn't mind it the Square has had an hairdressers in the past where the video shop is.
The pink was awful though.
dont know why they got rid of her in the first place,there were much worse people they could have elbowed.
I think they did want her to stay after her stint on "Strictly Come Dancing" but she wanted to leave.
I agree chance, what a waste of obvious talent!

I wouldn't have thought she'd been so keen to go back after they said the character had "reached it's natural conclusion" - they didn't know what to do with her first time round! I did like Kate though and I wish they hadn't given up on her the way they did - towards the end though, she had hardly anyone to interact with. That's the problem with bringing in characters like her with no ties, there has to be something definite for her to do or she just looks like a spare part!
The thing is they couldn't do much when people like Phil etc had gone so they decided to draft her out until a later date. I've just heard on the beeb radio that John Yorke is determined to have her signature on the dotted line so he can get her roped back in the future.
Excellent.. herself and Chrissie were getting on well before her departure.. she would be a good friend for her...
Maybe she is back as police officer to investigate Den's disappearence.... duh duh duhhhhh
Jill is a fantastic actress.

i hope Jill does come back cause she should never of been Axed in the first place she is a good Actress
was she axed? thought she choose to leave..
no from what i understand Kathleen Hutchison Axed her and Jill was really upset

I would like to have seen Kate's character explored a little more they could have brought in some one from her past, maybe someone she put away who tried to reek their revenge, they could have been a lot of storylines and depths to explore but AGAIN they decided to AXE another good character......
Well everybody whose been axed so far deserved to be axed :)
She is still married to Phil, he can hardly sign the divorce papers if he's on the run can he?

Kate could also be someone that Chrissie might confide in about Den's murder because they were in the past very close friends. If Kate came back, she would be able to tell that Chrissie was hiding something. Though, if Kate was still in the police, she might be investigating Den's disappearance.
It would be great to have Kate back .I did like her character and her interaction with Sharon (shame she's not there)
Nevertheless, she does have potential but I don't want to see her hooked up with Phil –it was only after they split that I warmed to her and found her more enjoyable to watch. It would be nice to see her back stronger and still in the force. :)

I want Kate to come back i think she is/was a great character!
I thought the whole Den-Kate-Chrissie thing was Fab i keep watching all the clips on the bbc website!
Jill Halfpenny is amazing, she can adct, sing & dance.I think she is a fab all rounder i think it was a shame that she left EE and i hope she does return!

I hope this is true! Really liked Kate as a character. What if Danny Moon (If he gets to stay) gets together with her, Do you think they suit..?

She cant be coming back on the paul OGrady show today, she said should would not return anytime soon, as she enjoying the plays and shows at the mo
I doubt she'd return now anyway she's found much better work since. EE really undervalued her :(

I heard her on pauls show to but allways remember that while actors are in talks about a possible comeback they are not allowed to announce they are returning untill the shows give them permission,so who knows maybe she will be back,i for one hope so,kate was allrightand if you think about it EE isn't the same without kate,den,paul andy,sharon and dennis,they got rid of to many good charectors to close together so hopefully kate will follow sharon and dennis,i wouldn't mind seeing lisa back aswell
They should definitely bring Kate back now that the rest of the Mitchells are coming back. Phil and Kate never really had a final showdown after Kate gave Louise away to Lisa so Phil will definitely want revenge for losing his daughter! Peggy, Grant and Sam will be there to back him up now as well! Maybe he'll go after Lisa again and try to get Lou back? That would be another great storyline, especially if Lisa is living with Mel in Portugal now, I would love to see Mel and Lisa back, they are both great characters.

I don't think there's a hope in hell of mel returning cos the actress who plays her seems to be doing very well at the moment
Jill Halfpenny returning to EE would be great news for the ailing soap, at least she is a great actress unlike the overated primadonnas such as Barbara "gerrroouttamahpub" Windsor and Letitia Dean. If they do bring her back lets hope they make it with a plausible storyline :cartman:
