Holby City star Edward MacLiam has revealed how his character Greg Douglas reacts when he catches Dan Hamilton in a compromising position next week.

Dan (Adam Astill) is about to receive a shock when his former flame Stephen Hopewell admits himself to the hospital. Soon after the pair have come face-to-face again, they share a brief kiss - which Greg witnesses.

The latest developments for Dan come just as he is busy planning his wedding to Chrissie (Tina Hobley) and their honeymoon.

MacLiam told What's On TV of the storyline: "[Stephen has] fractured his arm, so Dan treats him. When they're outside, Greg just happens to walk past - he's having a cigarette. He happens to see the two of them just kissing briefly - very briefly. Naturally, you read into that and you wonder what's going on.

"I think his suspicions have been aroused previously. [He doesn't] pursue him about it, but when they're having a coffee, he says, 'You really have to tell Chrissie about what's going on. You've just got to be open about it - that you are possibly gay'."

Discussing Dan's sexuality, MacLiam continued: "I think he's quite undecided about it, really. He would say [he's] confused - I've just got to relieve him from his confusion. He should really tell Chrissie what his status quo is."

Holby City star Adam Astill has revealed that his character Dan Hamilton is going to be "horrified" when his secret is discovered.

In an upcoming episode, Dan's former partner Stephen Hopewell is admitted to the hospital with a wrist injury. When they later share a brief kiss, he is shocked to discover that Greg Douglas (Edward MacLaim) has spotted them.

Dan is also currently planning his wedding to Chrissie (Tina Hobley) and their honeymoon.

Speaking about Stephen's arrival at Holby, Astill told What's On TV: "Initially, it's one of shock and horror because he thinks that Stephen might be up to something. Dan's worried that Stephen's there to throw a spanner in the works between him and Chrissie.

"Stephen's at the hospital with a possible wrist fracture, so it's up to orthopaedic surgeon Dan to examine him. But Dan doesn't want to touch Stephen, fearing his actions will be misinterpreted by someone, so Dan gives Stephen a very cursory examination - then warns him off whatever he has planned."

He added: "Stephen does understand what Dan's going through, so he's fairly forgiving. As they say goodbye there's a tender moment between them - and it's spotted by Greg!

"Dan's horrified to have been caught out - and by his blokey mate Greg, of all people. It really is his worst nightmare!"

Edward MacLaim recently said that he believes Dan is "confused" about his sexuality.

Holby City star Tina Hobley has revealed that her character Chrissie Williams will struggle to come to terms with Dan Hamilton's sexuality.

In the last episode, registrar Greg Douglas saw Dan kiss his former partner Stephen Hopewell and will subsequently threaten to tell Chrissie.

Hobley teased that her character may be unable to marry Dan after he admits his true feelings to her.

"[Greg] blackmails Dan and says, 'If you don't tell Chrissie then I will'," Hobley told The Mirror. "Dan has a chat with Chrissie and says, 'Let's go into our marriage with no secrets', and he tells her. She tries to get her head around it but he's still saying he's unsure about his sexuality.

"She doesn't think she can start her life with someone whose head is still messed up. Dan has been pushing for a big wedding but she threatens to call the whole thing off. Having had the full works with Owen, she wants a small affair.

"But Dan wants a lavish bash to show her off. It is probably his insecurities coming out. Who knows? All I know is I'm glad my life isn't full of so much drama."
