A remake of the classic show Bewitched has been commissioned for US TV.
The original ABC TV series, starring Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha, a witch married to a mortal man and trying to live as a normal housewife, ran from 1964 to 1972 and spawned a film spin-off in 2005 starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell which flopped at the box office.
Now, as part of a pilot season CBS has commissioned a remake for the small screen with Marc Lawrence - who has written and directed Two Weeks Notice, Music and Lyrics and Did You Hear About The Morgans? - set to write the script.
The original show followed Samantha trying to live a normal life with husband Darrin, played by Dick York and later Dick Sargent, bring up her daughter Tabitha and keep her mischievous mother Endora (Agnes Moorehead), under control.
Samantha could wiggle her nose to cast magic spells and help herself and Darrin out of scrapes, and undo the disasters caused by her witch mother, who disapproved of her marrying a mortal.
Elizabeth Montgomery, who died of cancer in 1995 aged 62, was honoured posthumously with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2008.
