EPISODE 298

Hunky PC Dan Casper (Chris Jarvis) joins Sun Hill, and on his first day risks life and limb to valiantly rescue a girl trying to kill herself on a dual carriageway. How will our hero cope when the case has a tragic end?

PC Honey Harman (Kim Tiddy) is still trying to digest Scott Burnett’s (Matt Bardock) violent outburst and behaves distantly. Scott thinks she might believe her friends’ accusations about murdering his wife, and makes her choose between them by taking the drastic action of ending their relationship. Honey later finds Scott by his wife’s grave and he persuades her to set a date for the wedding. Has Honey been had?

Meanwhile, Inspector Gina Gold (Roberta Taylor) confides in Sergeant Dale Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) about her having cancer. Will he agree to her wish of keeping it a secret?

Elsewhere, Sergeant June Ackland (Trudie Goodwin) worries that her recent fling with PC Roger Valentine (John Bowler) has diminished her authority. What will Roger say to June’s decision to deploy him to Vulnerable Persons Unit to learn the art of sensitivity?

DS Ramani De Costa (Thusitha Jayasundera) tries to set the boundaries for her working relationship with Margaret Barnes.

And Acting DC Gary Best (Ciaran Griffiths) is scoring low in the popularity stakes after he slagged off uniformed officers.

JT (Nick Patrick) unwittingly puts a woman’s life in danger when he sends her round to serial rapist Alan Kennedy’s (James Clyde) house. DS Samantha Nixon (Lisa Maxwell) and DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) are forced to halt their stakeout and intervene when they hear screams coming from the house.

It transpires that the woman’s reaction is based on recognising him in the press, and Kennedy suggests it is a set up. Superintendent Adam Okaro (Cyril Nri) has no choice but to pull surveillance on Kennedy. Will JT still have a job?

DS Ramani De Costa (Thusitha Jayasundera) is astounded to discover that her lack of love life is being discussed by Margaret Barnes (Annabelle Apsion) and PC Roger Valentine (John Bowler). Ramani’s ex later turns up at the station in a state, having been told that Ramani is dead. Is Margaret hatching an evil plan?

PC Reg Hollis (Jeff Stewart) and PC Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) arrest two squabbling burglars, and Roger and Ramani work on a case where an old man is attacked at a cash point…

Meanwhile, PC Honey Harman (Kim Tiddy) appears to have a done a runner, and Sergeant Dale ‘Smithy’ Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) encourages Inspector Gina Gold (Roberta Taylor) to give up the fags. Will her will prevail in this time of crisis?
