Eva Pope, Maggie Steed, Jack Deam and Wunmi Mosaku are to star in BBC One Daytime's new drama 32, Brinkburn Street.

Set in a Georgian terraced house in Manchester, the drama follows the lives of two generations of the same family, one in 1931 and one in 2011, and is currently being filmed in and around Manchester.

The drama timed to coincide with the 2011 Census, which is part of BBC One Daytime's programming to mark the event.

The drama moves between contemporary Britain and Thirties Manchester, exploring the changing nature of society and the family and how each respective character copes with similar issues, subtly highlighting how the world has changed, but how human nature fundamentally remains the same. Their dramas are domestic but for the characters involved the stakes are high.

Each episode of the five-part drama, written by Karen Laws and Alice Nutter, will cover 24 hours and will deal with powerful topics including pregnancy; the impact of addiction on a family; love and infidelity; mental health; and ageing.

Liam Keelan, Controller of BBC Daytime, said: "This new warm, accessible, compelling story about a family across the generations, with another high calibre cast, is part of BBC Daytime's ongoing commitment to produce more quality original British drama, which we know our audiences love."

There's a couple of interesting Coronation Street connections to the new BBC drama, 32 Brinkburn Street. It stars Eva Pope, who played evil cow Tanya Pooley, ex-Rovers Return barmaid. And it also stars Rebecca Callard, daughter of Beverley Callard who plays Corrie's Liz McDonald

I can never understand why the BBC put good drama's on between 2 and 3 in the afternoon. You sit down to watch. Then have to leave before the end , to do the school run. This is really annoying.
So you have to record it or watch later on I player.

They done the same with the Indian Doctor.
