I'm sorry if this has been dealt with before but can someone please tell me why Joe's character was written out so suddenly????

I think he had issues with booze. Not entirely sure, so don't flame me if I am wrong :)

the statement given was that he turned up at work and was told 'his serivecs were no longer needed, as effective immediatley' but they're have been a lot of rumours about drink and drugs... so who knows????

There was also a lot of talk that he (guy who played him though can't remember his name!!) was going to take to producers etc to court over it, so they had to be careful hence why he disappeared to look after his sick dad. That way if it did go to court and they were ordered to reinstate him to the cast, this could be done fairly easily. Though I don't think the real reason behind the dismissal was ever released.
