The executive producer of V has teased that upcoming episodes will see a 'battle of the mothers'.

Speaking to SFX, Scott Rosenbaum said that Anna and Erica - Morena Baccarin and Elizabeth Mitchell respectively - will become the focus of the show.

"To me this show is about two mothers fighting for their children and they will do whatever it takes to protect them" he said. "By that I mean, Anna is sort of the mother of the Vs and Erica is the mother of the humans, and Tyler specifically.

"While you will still have this big V versus humans issue, in the micro it's about Anna versus Erica and which mother is going to come out on top in the battle for their children."

He added: "They are just such strong-willed characters so to see them do anything to protect their kids is going to be fun."

V launches Tuesday, April 13 on Sci Fi in the UK and resumes Tuesday, April 30 on ABC in the US.

Bret Harrison will appear in the second season of ABC sci-fi series V in a recurring role.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the actor will play evolutionary biologist Dr. Sidney Miller.

The first season finale saw Earth thrown into panic when the sky turned red. The new episodes will see Miller provide answers as to what caused the change.

The character will first appear in the second season premiere when he is tracked down by FBI agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell).

Harrison previously starred in supernatural comedy-drama Reaper on The CW.

The second season of V is expected to begin airing in November.
