"Lost" may be ending its storied run in May, but Daniel Dae Kim is hoping he can stick around in Hawaii.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "Lost" star has landed one of the lead roles in CBS' pilot update of "Hawaii Five-0."

Kim will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly, stepping into Kam Fong's shoes from the original island cop classic.

The new "Hawaii Five-0" comes from "Fringe" co-creators Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, plus "CSI: NY" veteran Peter Lenkov.

The trade notes that while the show's lead role -- Dectect Steve McGarrett -- has yet to be cast, "Moonlight" and "Three Rivers" star Alex O'Loughlin has been in talks to take over the part made famous by Jack Lord.

Kim has played Jin Kwon for six seasons on "Lost." His prior credits included "24," "Angel" and the miniseries "The Andromeda Strain."

Taryn Manning is the latest to sign on to CBS' Hawaii Five-O remake, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Manning, 31, joins previously announced stars Alex O'Loughlin (most recently of Three Rivers) and Lost's Daniel Dae Kim. Manning will play Mary Ann, the younger sister of Steve McGarrett (O'Loughlin).

An actress, singer and designer, Manning is best known for her roles in 8 Mile and Hustle & Flow and appeared on four episodes of Sons of Anarchy in 2008.

Scott Caan has been booked to play the iconic role of Danny "Danno" Williams in CBS' Hawaii Five-O pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Caan, 33, will step into the role originated by James MacArthur and made famous by the original series' catch phrase, "Book 'em, Danno!"

In the project, Williams is a recent transfer from the Baltimore Police Department who moves to Hawaii after an ugly divorce to be close to his daughter. He partners with Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin), the head of a special division of the Hawaii State Police. Besides O'Loughlin, Caan joins familiar faces such as Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park and Taryn Manning.

Caan most recently appeared in a recurring role on the last season of Entourage, playing Eric's competitive co-worker at a Hollywood management firm. Caan, the son of James Caan, will be credited as a guest star in the Hawaii pilot because of his previous commitment to the HBO comedy, THR reported. (MacArthur also was the son of show business parents — playwright Charles MacArthur and stage legend Helen Hayes.)

Caan is also best known for his role in all three Ocean's films.

Hawaii Five-0's executive producer Alex Kurtzman has revealed that he doesn't classify the show as a remake.

According to E! Online, Scott Caan explained that he has avoided watching the original version because he does not want his portrayal of Dano to be affected by it.

Meanwhile, Kurtzman explained that he wanted to take Hawaii Five-0 in a new direction.

"For me, the word 'remake' suggests we're doing exactly the same thing," he said. "And in our experience in Star Trek, we felt like you have to find the spirit of what that original franchise was about, and you have to really be true to it, then you have to expand on it and bring it into the modern time with whatever rules will govern it."

Hawaii Five-0 will premiere on September 20 on CBS.

After squinting his eyes and time-hopping around the globe to save the world as Heroes' Hiro Nakamura, Masi Oka has signed on to help Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) and his team investigate murders on CBS's Hawaii Five-0 reboot.

He'll debut in the fourth episode as the coroner and be billed as a guest star. But with the body count expected to spike considerably in Oahu, this coroner could potentially be busy for several seasons.

Also look for original king of comedy D.L. Hughley to appear in Hawaii Five-0's third episode as a character named Skeet. Skeet is described to me as an inmate serving a double life sentence who challenges McGarrett to a game of hoops.

Hawaii Five-0's Scott Caan aggravated an old knee injury and was flown back to Los Angeles for surgery on his ACL, a rep for the series said.

Caan, who plays Detective Danny "Danno" Williams, is scheduled to return to the set Monday. Production will continue without him, though he will not miss an episode.

The 33-year-old actor's injury will be written into the show. Danny will be taken to the doctor's office following a mishap on the job. When the doctor asks whether anything traumatic has happened lately, Danny replies that he's got a new partner, Alex O'Loughlin's Steve McGarrett. "This guy is a physical injury!"

"Working with McGarrett, you're bound to get a few bumps and bruises along the way," executive producer Peter Lenkov said.

Hawaii Five-0 is scheduled to premiere Monday, Sept. 20 at 10/9c on CBS.

Former Heroes star Masi Oka has revealed details of his forthcoming role on Hawaii Five-0.

It was previously confirmed that the actor will play a coroner in the fourth episode of the cop drama.

"I'm playing an odd little man named Max Bergman," he told TV Guide. "He's brilliant at two things - being the Honolulu medical examiner and playing the piano, which he does in his autopsy room office to help him think."

Oka also revealed details of what Heroes creator Tim Kring had planned for a fifth season of the axed NBC series.

"They were going to end everyone's stories by bumping off one character every week," he confirmed.

Oka's appearance on Hawaii Five-0 is expected to air in October. His character could potentially recur throughout the first season.

James McArthur is to make a cameo appearance in the new CBS reboot of Hawaii Five-0.

McArthur told WENN that he supports the remake, which stars Scott Caan as Danno.

"This one's going to be a hit," he insisted. "It's got a good cast and good plots."

He added that producers are currently devising a role for him to play.

"They've asked me to appear in the new show," he confirmed. "I'll do [a cameo] when the time is right."

The new Hawaii Five-0 premieres on September 20 at 10/9c on CBS.

O'Quinn will play a Navy Seal Lt. Commander who served with McGarrett's dad in Vietnam and also trained McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) in Coronado. He'll also have some answers regarding the murders of McGarrett's parents.

Terry O'Quinn has signed up for more episodes of Hawaii Five-0.

The former Lost star was originally contracted to appear in six episodes of the CBS drama's second season.

O'Quinn's role as Lt. Commander Joe White has now been expanded, executive producer Peter Lenkov told TV Guide.

"His original deal was six episodes, and now we'll do another three," he revealed. "And we're hoping for even more."

O'Quinn recently admitted that he is keen to reunite on-screen with Lost co-star Michael Emerson. He has also signed up for a role in Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry's new ABC pilot Hallelujah, which is currently undergoing re-writes.

"Terry's a guy who really wants to get his own show, and he deserves that," said Lenkov. "That's his goal. But we'd love to make it work where he could do both."

Hawaii Five-0 continues on Mondays at 10/9c on CBS.
