Hyde and Kim are actually getting on. It’s almost a miracle. They’re even having regular dinners together in the Diner. They’re getting through full days together without arguing. Kim is looking forward to the arrival of Brooke and Hyde’s stay in the city seems to have changed his attitude completely. Not that completely though. When Kim and Hyde take baby decorations around to Leah’s house later on, Hyde is very cagey when Leah asks him if he’s okay with the whole situation. Why is he so nervous?

Jesse and Peter Baker share a workout together. Now that Peter has moved into the Bay he’s going to be getting more involved. Jesse asks him if he has his eye on any Summer Bay beauty. Peter remarks cryptically that he does but hasn’t made a move yet.

Would that be Leah he’s talking about? Who knows, but over at the Diner, Leah’s facing a barrage of questioning from Tasha, relating to what she should do with her money. Leah is no help, but when Robbie comments that it’s a pity he didn’t have an invention for her to invest in, Tasha has a ‘eureka’ moment.

What’s come over Alf? He’s down in the dumps. Duncan won’t talk to him when he calls. He’s crying for no reason at all, and he can’t find the joy in anything. He visits Flynn and worries that maybe the tumour has returned?

Flynn tells him He’ll have to go get tests before he can confirm anything. Peter and Jesse are finishing their workout when Jesse has another minor attempt at grilling Peter. He’s not the type of policeman they expect from Yabbie Creek, he’s obviously great at his job, and he’s very ambitious. Why is he here? Peter says that he’s seen so much evil, been in so many dirty ponds, that a pristine backwater like Summer Bay is exactly what he needs. He pauses and looks at Jesse, and in that instant Jesse sees the guard come down. He sees the real Peter and it’s a man who has been through pure hell in his life, and is utterly tired of it. And then the guard comes back up. Who is this man? How much is real, and how much is made up?

Jesse remarks on this to Irene at the Diner later on and she tells Peter that she always gets to bottom of people. Peter says he looks forward to her efforts.

Later that afternoon, Tasha races into the surgery waiting room. She barges into Flynn’s surgery without knocking and shouts, “I know it! I know it! I know exactly what I’m going to do!”

Tasha tells Flynn the answer to her problems is investment! She gets rid of the money and the investment will bring in more! Flynn tells Irene Tasha would be better off saving the money for her education, but Irene doesn’t think Tasha’s the uni-going sort. She reckons the real world is just as good a university as any. Flynn gives in.

Brooke and baby Charlie are finally in Summer Bay. And while Kim is over the moon, Hyde is not. Everyone’s fussing over the new arrivals (except VJ, who’s a little jealous); while all Hyde wants is a private chat with Brooke. He tells her he’s had a change of heart. Their plan was that Brooke would come to Summer Bay and let Kim know that he wasn’t wanted in her life. She has to do it over a period of time because Kim is not the kind of person who can be told to do something he doesn’t want to do. Now Hyde’s relationship with Kim has changed for the better, he doesn’t want to hurt him. Brooke tells Hyde to stick to his part of the plan!

Meanwhile Matilda is trying to get Hyde listen to her plan of self-defence classes for the girls at school. He just brushes her off with a firm ‘no’.
Tasha can’t figure out what to invest in. Robbie puts his foot in it when he suggests in front of Irene that Tasha put the money in the stock market. ‘She should be good at that because it’s in her genes’. Oops! Now Irene knows Tasha has told Robbie the identity of her Dad. Irene tells Tasha she’s fine with that, as long as Tasha is happy.

Tasha finds the perfect way to spend her money – give it to Irene to set up a business! Irene is touched, but refuses. She only helped Tasha out of love. If she takes the money it might make people think otherwise. But Tasha is adamant this is a good idea. She decides to sit in the Diner all day until Irene gives in. Finally, after umpteen cups of coffee, Irene can’t stand to see her sit there any longer. She gives her 15-minutes to come up with a great idea.

Flynn has some good news for Alf: the tumour is not back. But he is displaying classic symptoms of depression. Alf is outraged! But Flynn emphasises that depression doesn’t mean ‘crazy’. Alf is even more thrown when Colleen snoops through his medical card and comes to the Diner to tell him that she’s one person who can help him. She’s been through depression and she’s here to tell him he’s not crazy! Alf is furious. He throws Colleen out of the shop and threatens to lynch Flynn for telling her. Irene calms him down and asks if he really thinks Flynn would tell Colleen? Alf realises Colleen was snooping. Suddenly Alf breaks down. Everything is falling apart. Something has to change. He just wants to sell this whole place and get out!

Tasha’s ears prick up. She asks him if he’s serious. ‘Yes’, he says, as Tasha pumps his hand. She wants to buy the Diner!
