I just had to post about ho Ireland were cruelly robbed of a place in the World Cup Finals by the hand of Thierry Henri.

This shows the case for video refereees just as they have in Rugby Union. It was obvious that FIFA officials wanted France to qualify because they seeded the top teams so as they would not come up against each other. Pity they didnt think to mention this at the start of the competition.

I can only hope that these French cheats:moonie: get knocked out in the first round by some minnow team like North Korea

Me to alan. I'm gutted, cheats not only was it a handball it was offside as well, how the ref did not see it is beyond me. 2 years worth of games to get beaten like that's so annoying.

Perhaps Monsuier Henri thought he was playing Gaelic.

thats exactly what my cousin said, perhaps he should be praised for being the only frenchman to beat the Irish at Gaelic games, the FAI have called to FIFA for a replay.

Henri has gone from hero to zero. He will be called a cheat for a long time to come. How the ref and the linesman never seen the handball and offside is unbelievable. The match should be replayed.

I agree - it should be replayed, if only to show that there is still a glimmer of sportsmanship somewhere in football.

The object is to in within the rules, not to win at any cost.

Even Henry is saying on the news this lunchtime that a replay would be the fairist solution.

its never going to happen now FIFA have ruled though, clearly they want France in the finals and not us,

Its so annoying that after 2 years of games like i said before its come down to this and not only that we were done on the seeding as well, its never been like that in the past but the thought that France or Portugal may be there FIFA clearly thought that couldnt be happened, with seeding the smaller nations never had a chance and the fact we got so close to be robbed by cheating is infuriating even more.

I am not going to talk about how disgusted I was at this. It has been years since Ireland was in a world cup and our team played their socks off on Wednesday.. I will say that Ireland walked out of this world cup with their pride and dignity. We have nothing to be ashamed of and I am proud of Irish supporters in France who didn't lower themselves but acted with honor.

The problem is FIFA wants the big teams in the World Cup only

France striker Thierry Henry is to be investigated by FIFA’s disciplinary committee regarding his handball against Ireland.

good, he himself knew it was wrong and as there is nothing we can do against the result hopefully he will be disciplined.

Sport is meant to be fair. I have seen tennis players pointing out errors by line judges in favour of their opponent. Shame Henry did not do the honourable thing and admit there and then that it was handball.

Was that John McEnroe by any chance? :rotfl:
